Triangle M2C2 January 16th Meeting

Jan 16th is fast approaching... since we've moved the meeting to a Sunday afternoon, I'd like to see us have a drive with a lunch midway.
Everyone is welcome!
Triad/Charlotte members may want to drive and meet us in Mebane.

Triangle members...
I'd like to suggest meeting near US 64 & Hwy 55
Travel some backroads for an hour or so to Mebane, NC
and take in some famous NC pit-cooked Barbeque at the A & M Grill.
(BTW, they do have other foods for the non BBQ types)

menu
Travel Channel Review
Map to A & M

After lunch, we can find a new way back, split up, or just keep on driving

I will be working on the route for drive. If anyone has suggestions, throw them out.

So here's my initial proposal:

Sunday, Jan 16
2:00pm Meet and Greet Hwy 64 / 55 (1/4 mile south/east on 55)
at new Panera Bread (coffee and restrooms)
2:15pm Drive
3:30pm Lunch - Mexican Restaurant I40/NC119
4:30pm more driving, go home, what ever you need to do

You're right it was last week, my bad
For some reason I thought it was a final drive of the year, couldn't imagine anyone wanting to drive with a hangover
So, I'm renaming this, Audioman's 1st Drive for 2005!

Whatever

Hey Chris and other Triangle-area Miniacs!

I'm planning on being in Raleigh visiting my daughter that weekend so I just might have to drop in on the festivities. Sounds like fun. That's about the time I would be heading home back to Hickory anyway so it works out great. Will probably see y'all there. And this WILL be my first drive of 2005!

Good News / Bad News

Well... WINDMEUP and I took a test drive yesterday to make sure my route for next Sunday didn't include any dirt roads, closed roads due to construction, etc.

It was a lovely day for a drive and the route is good. Only a few sections of road are rough, but not too bad and I only had to adjust the route for one dirt road. It took 90 minutes for the 70 miles. We arrived at A&M Grill in Mebane at 3:45 and to my dismay... the restaurant is CLOSED on Sundays. DOH!

We ended up eating at a Mexican restaurant where the route crosses I40/85. It was good, clean and roomy... actually better than most I eaten at recently.

[Sidebar]...Checking the website I posted originally even says the BBQ is open Mon-Sat. My fault for not reading every word on the website.

So, needless to say, we won't be eating NC BBQ, on Sunday.
How about Mexican instead?!

After lunch/dinner... we are only 45 minutes direct route back to Cary/Apex
Chapel Hill/Durham folks should be closer/quicker trip via I40/85

Chris,

I'm still planning on meeting up with you guys at 2 on Sunday but just in case I have trouble finding the rendezvous location, could I have your cell number? I will have a radio with me, tuned to channel 7 I assume, but still would like to have a number. Thanks! Look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

In case you don't have a chance to reply to this by this afternoon, could you call me at home? My home number is (828) 428-0110 and my cell number is (828) 310-9100. I'm leaving for Raleigh tomorrow afternoon so you'll have to call my cell phone if you call after that. Thanks again!

Eric

I'll trust your assessment of the conditions up there, Chris. I'll be up there as planned.

Michelle, I'll see you about 1:15 at Walmart.

I'm out the door... so if I'm a little late (I always seem to be) know that I am on the way.
Cheers,
Keith

Turned out to be a nice day for a drive! Enjoyed seeing everyone again. Sorry you had to cancel out Michelle. Don't you just hate those "drop in" guests!

I do think it proved the shift to Sunday is going to be a good thing.

Had a great time. It was good seeing everyone again.
As always, Chris had a fun route planned.

Maybe we should start an onine database of fun roads to drive in the M2C2 area.
Whatdaya think?

Drop in guests are always fun! Sorry I missed it, but I should be able to be at the next one. Doesn't interfere with Bad Movie Night, so all should be good!
