Bonnet/Boot stripes

Hello fellow Miniac's Sounds like all of yourselves had a great time this past greet and meet. Hope soon to meet and make a motor with you folks soon. Our "Tootles" is pepper white with the black roof and as of now, stripeless. We chose not to have them intalled at the dealer with the thought, they might be available after market (and not have to finance that cost haha). I just recently found a dealer for stripes www.ministripes.com who has advertised the most reasonable after market stripes seen yet. It would appear that one could have both the bonnet and boot stripes for right at $100.

These stripes are available in magnetic or vinyl. Opinions are greatly appreciated. Has anyone dealt with this company? Would any others had any experience with the magnetic stripes? I've wondered if there would be any chance of some type of electrical interference. My favorite option is to have a custom vinyl stripe made here locally. Hate to say but cost is a bit of a factor so I'll let ya know.

Gonna make a run this Sunday from Candler/Asheville up to Linville via the Parkway and back by way of NC HWY 221 to I 40. Everyone have a great weekend.

Hi, the last meet and greet was a blast. Hope you can make the next one. As for your stripes, stay away from magnetics and static clings. Both have a tendency to depart the vehicle at the most inopportune times. Check with the local sign shops. Their pricing may not be as bad as you think.

I have no personal experience but some on NAM have said that the magnetic stripes SCRATCH the paint!!!!

I was considering magnetic but have since changed my mind. I don't want to chance it. BTW, my 04 MC is PW w/ black roof also.

Thanks for the feedback J Didi and Moorlock for the input. I really was not crazy about magnetic but in ease in installation they would be ideal. You've both given me enough excuse to not go that route. Sounds like we have twins J Didi. Would yours have the CVT? Mine is a March '04 build.

Twins it is! CVT also. Although mine is an 04, I got it december so I guess it was premature . I have the green interior. Very different.

I haven't be able to decide on stripes. Black seems to be about the only color that doesn't clash with the PW. I've been thinking about something in red white and blue??? Maybe a center stripe? But the car really does look awsome even without stripes . Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

Hi JohnNC,

I started with magnetic stripes to get an idea of what they would look like.. Worries of fogging or scratching the clearcoat made me aprehensive of using them, which wasn't any fun. On my way to my first m2c2 meet and greet just about a year ago, they blew off for the umpteenth time.. Going back and retrieving them made for a late arrival.
I went to a local sign shop here in Greenville, and they made and installed permanent stripes that duplicated the magnetic ones for $85.00 They did a great job, and it took about an hour.

Local sign shop it is,

Hello Trainman, I appreciate your feedback and hearing your experiences with the magnetic adhesion. We have looked at a variety of stripes and all look well. In the spirit of individuality I have checked in with a local sign/graphic/lettering shop. Not wanting to copy another's idea this is my best option to design our own. Figuring in the windshield lettering and striping front and rear, will come in under $150. Just waiting now on the materials to come in. Thanks for the advice and sure to post photos with the new look when it happens. Also, J Didi they're twins we can tell apart . Mine has the cordoba beige/black leather.

Hey JohnNC,

Your pics aren't showing up.. . BTW, the first set of permanent stripes I tried to install myself were from MINIStripes. They are very thin and stretch easily.
That's when I gave up and went to a local sign shop..

Thanks for sharing that with me. Must admit that I find this site not very user friendly when it comes to adding pics. Last nite got a message from the adminstrator that my pics were not showing. This was really odd because I could see every one when I visited this site. Was told this problem was related to uploading from my Yahoo gallery. Was doing this to get a URL address to add pics to sig. Tried new method of "managing attachments" and from my view, pics were showing as thumbnails. So for now I am stumped.

I see two sets of pics. One thumbnail and two as part of the signature.

I see the thumbnails in your post as well as the thumbnails in your sig. When I click on the thumbnails in your post, I get to view larger images (very nice, by the way!). The thumbnails in your sig don't link to anything.

Stripes in Charlotte?

OK, I am going to ressurect this thread... I am interested in putting black bonnet and boot stripes on Frau Hummel and I know that I am completely incapable of applying them myself.

I know I can order the stripes from Cooperflags, but then I'd need to go somewhere and have them installed. The dealer would want $95 for the install and seemed a little wary of the boot stripes, since they'd never done them before.

I'm guessing that I could get them done cheaper at a local sign shop or some place, but I have no idea where to go.

Anyone know a good place to get these stripes?

Thanks!

I know of two places in the Greenville area that are reasonable... One gives club members a discount, too!

hmmmm, Winston or Greenville... I'm in Charlotte. I was kinda hoping for something a little closer to home... But if there's a discount for members available in Greenville... Maybe I ought to head down there. (Got my very own brand new membership card this week!)
Which place in Greenville has the discount?

Anyone in Charlotte get stripes done yet?

Thanks Guys!

If he doesn't chime in here, PM Mininc. George will know anyone in Charlotte that can do the job.
