So, about a lunch and drive on Saturday April 3rd. We can get together and see whose going to Tail of the Dragon and discuss a mini-rally on the way over to the Dragon. Last year, for Tail of the Dragon, Bill Koff and MiniShuttle and I took a great drive on the way to Fontana area from Boone, NC.

MiniShuttle (presently relocated to CO) and I had found an hour long loop or so in southwest Wake into Chatham/Orange county we could drive. It's not mountainous, but there are some winding roads and you can take a photo of your car in front of "Cooper's Barber Shop"

Suggest meeting at Spark's in Apex Peakway Plaza (Hwy 55 and Olive Chapel Road)

10:00am Meet
10:15 drive (Stops at Jordan Lake Dam, Bynum
12:00pm Return to Spark's for lunch and discuss May trip Tail of Dragon

Hope you don't mind but I added a corresponding note in the SE-Carolinas forum for this.

Chris

Sounds like a great idea. Please count me in.

Sorry for the long absence from the board. As you know I started a new job with my company last August. I was traveling over a 16-state area Monday through Friday. It left little time for family or MINIs. My company has sold and is shutting down all sales and marketing. I am now job hunting. The good news is I should have more family and MINI time.

We hope to get M2C2 moving again, events like this will help. Thanks for organizing. I will ask Molly to email this event to all M2C2 members.

Sorry to hear about the job situation. I was there last year. It can be a blessing and frustrating at the same time.

Look forward to seeing you again.

Chris,

Sounds like a great time, but this time of the year is tough for me to get anytime off :~( So I'll have to pass on this, glad to hear we've got something started in the Raleigh area.

Enjoy Lake Jordan, some nice roads out there.

Looks like a fun route Chris. I'm familiar with parts of it and it should be some good driving.

We're relatively new to the area and our MINI is relatively new too, so we'd love to come along for the lunch and drive. I look forward to meeting everyone!

Wendy, this should help. If you still have a question let us know and we'll give you additional directions

Follow link to proposed route.

(If you have Internet Explorer, hold cursor over map until the expand picture icon appears in the bottom right.)
The route would start in Apex and go clockwise.

Thanks to all that attended and special thanks to George (mininc) and his son Austin who drove in from Charlotte.

We had a beautiful day for a drive. No incidents, but the local bicyclers added a new element to the twisy Bynum Ridge Road. Good thing MINI's stay in their lanes.

Thanks to Austin for keeping the MINIs shiney and clean at every stop.

See ya'll over the next few weeks of MINI events.

I've posted several pictures from today in the Gallery under Regional Events - Southeast. These links should take you there:

Thanks, Chris, for organizing the drive. Sorry I had to cut out early, but I quite enjoyed the ride. I won't be able to make it to the upcoming events, but next time you want to go for a local run, let me know.

gadgetgrrll... I still haven't found that rock that bounced in my sunroof and ricocheted past my face, but when I do, you're welcome to have it back

Chris

You did a great job with the drive and lunch. Thanks for putting every thing together. Austin and I had fun.

Thanks to every one that was there, it was great to meet Markie, Majorfracas, Gadgetgrrl and Audioman. It was nice to see Moorlockx again and to have driven a greater distance than he to attend an event was a first. I hope to see everyone at Flow on the 18th.

Had a great day, too. Good to see old faces and meet some new ones. If any of you that were on the drive is interested, the video came out pretty decent (other than losing the last 10 or 15 minutes when the tape ran out and I've got to pay more attention to the soundtrack). If you want a vhs copy of it, just email me at moorlockx@aol.com with your address and I'll get one out to you.
