Satellite Radio and Aux outlet

I have taken my 07 to Best Buy and Circuit City to look at Sirius install. It can go through the aux outlet and be hardwired into electric but they did advise that sometimes when wired through Aux you risk transmission/engine noise via aux outlet and then into speaksers? Anyone heard of this and do you recommend a Sirius install? I do not want to take apart that hugh dash/speedo and want to keep as simple and aesthetically pleasing as possible. Recommendations on most efficient aftermarket install and antenna placement would also be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

The aux port is ideal. The only better hookup would be factory install or w/aftermkt radio. I've never had a prob with an aux hookup.

I really haven't had a great look at the 07's, but i'm putting mine in the cubby and routing the ant to the back and next to or behind the factory ant.

The best place to install is the boot area. there is a connector in the passenger side boot area just for this. See Navigation and Audio threads. That is where the dealer installed Sirius is. There is an optical (MOST) connector back there the aftermarket will take some time to catch up to. Personally, I"m waiting on that. Best possible connection.

To the best of my knowledge a Sirius module for the ultimate in clean install is not yet available. I have been told in will be late Spring or earlier Summer.

My Starmate 4 has no rfi noise. Just make sure that you use a good shielded cable from the Sirius receiver to the AUX input...and make sure that the Sirius line level output is set to maximum.

I have my XM temped in cubby hole at the bottom of the center stack. I have an "Add-a-Circuit" for the power, but haven't found time to do the deed. Driving around is more fun!
We have a "Sportscaster" XM unit we got brand new off Ebay for $25 total. Fits right in that spot very nicely.
I dont have any engine noise or static thru the Aux input. We are using a shielded cable.

Here you go...I used a 2" x 3" L bracket, and mounted it with 3M giant velcro. This is the industrial velcro that is not soft on either side. It has mushroom shaped posts, so once attached, there is very little "slop". It is available at any Radio Shack store.
