Depending where you live and how long the car sits before you fire it up, it could be mildew. I smell it sometimes, but the car has to be sitting for at least 12 hours before it gets noticeable.

if it is mildew the dealer has a fix for it.... a new filter..... I had a similar problem with a sweet, musty smell and a new filter cleared it up......
Had a stale smell til I replaced my interior filter. Ozone is a nice spray sold at OReilly's Auto. It really takes care of any odor including pet smells.
