Those On The Fence For Mods (Exhaust,CAI,15% Pulley) DO IT!!

I had an opportunity today to drive a 06 MCS--Bone Stock. Wow. My 15 month old '05 MCS with Magna Flow Exhaust/Alta CAI and just installed Alta 15% pulley makes the stock MCS seem quite mundane, quiet and almost boring. I was amazed at the difference in the driving experience. Not only the performance/but the wonderfully enhanced sounds that emit from the engine (SC whine/wailing) to the fantastic exhaust notes through the Magna Flow trumpets. For $1500 I have the sweetest sounding/performing car I think I have ever had. (That includes and old 911/5.0 Mustang/Z28 Camaro and a C5 Vette)!!
So those of you on the fence: I recommend checking out someones MINI with these mods. It will amaze you and get you off the fence.

Fence, what fence? I just went for it and never worried about it. I never had any problems cause by mods and never had a problem with warranty because of mods.

You should try and get a ride in a twincharged car!

Modding is a must do for MCS owners. But beware, once started it's very hard to stop.

Yup, go for it...just did my first mod at one of Randy's pulley parties. Got a 15% pulley, Alta CAI, and iridium plugs installed and what a difference!

Oh I don't know, I've found it quite easy. After I got past the S/C pulley, the lightened crank pulley, and an intake, I came to the easy conclusion that modding this car any further would be a waste of my money, so next year I'm buying an actually fast car that still handles better than the Mini.

In the end, I felt just like the people I make fun of who spend thousands of dollars modifying Civics.

To each their own.

I'll be searching for a good deal on an STi. More performance, better handling, faster, and more ridiculous looking.

You wanna have more fun with the supercharger whine, Ryephile removed the panel behind my intake - more air, and lots more fun noise! Whee!

I am definitely still on the fence. Thanks for this thread and sharing your positive experience. I've got it narrowed down to doing what you did, a Dinan setup, or nothing at all so I can have an awesome, bone-stock 20-year old MCS without value-robbing mods (which was the case for my 20 year old 325). Well, it's not realistic to go for value on a mass-produced car 20 years down the road, but there's some merit in having the car as close as possible to how it came.

I agree on all counts. After spending a few sessions in one at Road Atlanta, I have no doubt that you'll love it.

And, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Most folks will only get a glimpse of the front as you pass, and the car will then get rapidly smaller.

Agreed! But I will say this. If I could get the performance, AWD, and a turbo four making that much power in the Mini, from the factory?

Then the Mini Cooper would be the most perfect car on this planet, in my subjective opinion.

But alas, I can't wait on hearsay, and I know it's been a rumor that they're supposedly going to have an AWD variant of the next gen Mini, but we're talking about that supposedly not happening until '08-'09.

Hey, I'm an impatient jerk! Two years? That's an eternity. But hell, if they make it, I WILL buy one.

So if anyone from Mini USA is reading this, just let me say that I'm only leaving the fold for a little while. You make an AWD version of your awesome little razorbox, mark me down.

If you make it, I will come(and so will my checkbook!)
