Front seat-backs popping loose.

Is this happening/has happened to anyone elses' MINI? The plastic seat-backs on the front seat are always popping loose from the clips. Now, my kids ride in the back seat regularly, so the front seats get alot of back and forth action.
Right now, I can press (hard) and engage the clips, but later on they just pop loose again. If the clip parts are plastic, they're going to wear out eventually.

Maybe they already have worn out.
Of course, I had the car in for a repair last week and mentioned the problem. The service guys told me they took care of it...
yah, they pushed hard on the seat-backs until the clips popped back in.

Duh, I would've never thought of trying that.

I had the same problem when I got my car last year. I was going to get it taken care of when I went to get my plates, but I eventually got them (the clips) to stick permanently.

Pushing them together, I kind of felt where they clicked, so I pushed real hard to get them to stick, then kind of did this karate chop thing with both sides of the seat pretty hard, basically squashing the seats in a hand sandwich. Haven't budged for a year.

Mine did that too. After repeatedly having to push it back in, a forum member at MINI2 recommended I look where the clips are (inside the seat back) and press them in very carefully to the sockets until I heard the click or snap of the clips latching in. Do it to both clips.

The clips are at the top (about 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock positions) of the indentations.

I did that and it hasn't popped out since (about 3 weeks). I talked to the dealer and he said if it does pop out again, he'll replace them. The dealer told me that sometimes what happens is if you have people in the back seats, they tend to grab the seat back right about where the clips are and accidently press them loose. My opinion then, is this is one part where the engineer who designed the seat didn't do that good a job.

I had that with the driver's seat, they fixed it, it's been almost 2 years, hasn't popped out again.

I did a post on this last September on my 05 MCS. As a temp fix I took a couple small pieces of 3M Double Sided Tape. It is still sticking. For you old timers--"and the Timex is still ticking" -- John Cameron Swayze circa 1958

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I did try searching for a previous thread, guess I didn't hit the best word combo, or didn't go back far enough.
I've trained the kids where not to grab the seatbacks , and pushed until on the clip area until I was sure those darn clips were in to stay, to no avail.

And Toasty, I like jumbo shrimp.
