I just replace my valve cover and it started leaking from the PCV gasket. Not sure what it actually called but its not the membrane. I have included a image below.
If you know what this gasket is called please let me know. Thanks
What do you mean by leaking? Hissing? Only thing that should be in there is air from venting crankcase pressure and often a bit of oil vapor. You have a fancy aftermarket valve cover/pcv assembly, all aluminum and red, cool. Mine is just black thermoplastic and the pcv doesn't come apart, ultrasonic welded or something. I think this means it really isn't meant to come apart. Hopefully someone will chime in because I have no idea if it can be reassembled.
So at the top of the first image where my finger is pointing, there is a bit of gasket that is bowed out. That had popped out causing a sucking sound on acceleration.
Gotcha. That is indeed pretty bowed out. I'm not sure how you could resettle that and expect it to have a good seal. Where'd you buy it from...I'd imagine they can help you find a replacement gasket that isn't so stretched. I don't see that specific subassembly gasket on ECS Tuning unfortunately. Maybe they can even help with reassembly of those weird things. I assume they're a check valve mechanism or maybe an oil vapor diverter but unsure.
Those types of gaskets can be finicky to lay down into the channel. If there is ANY amount of stretch, the groove will keep it stretched, and it won't fit all the way around and you'll end up with a loop like in your fist picture. You can try removing the whole thing and lubing the gasket with a light oil or WD-40, and then trying to carefully pack it back into the groove. It might take a whole bunch of patience, however.
OR, you can try running a bead of RTV into the groove, just proud of the top, letting it cure, then reinstalling the cover.
