Hi. Need help…

Hey guys.

Old school Nissan guy here. The power steering went out on my daily, and I decided to part ways with it. I picked up a 2005 Mini Cooper S, manual.

The car has a SES Light for,

P1498: Cold Start Idle Air Control System RPM Implausible (Bank 2.)

The EML light comes on often.

I know the rubber boots on the intercooler are starting to crack.

She’s been around, so I have no idea what’s all done to her, aside from a cold air intake of some kind.

Word is this is the best Mini Forum, so I hope I can get some good info from you all.

I took the car to the Mini dealer because it was missing. They fixed part of my injector harness and it’s running pretty decent currently but I need to pass emissions soon.

I know part of the harness for the passenger airbag module is missing, not sure if that’s related.

She’s got 186k so any maintenance items or advice I can get would be good. Any help would be appreciated, I really like this car and would like to sort it out.

Thanks.

Welcome,

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ault-mean.html

Yep sounds like a leak, smoke test will tell you.

Get a schwaben scan tool and you can read all the MINI codes, more then the actron units at autozone.

186k so any maintenance items:

Plugs, coil pack/wire. Cabin filter, air filter, oil change/filter.

Check brakes, axle boots, rear brake lines and cables ( not rusty and work).

I would also do the supercharger fluid and maybe the waterpump at the same time: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-mcs-only.html
