Head gasket thickness?

So my money Cooper S has a misfire on three that I've been chasing for a few months and as a result I haven't been able to drive it for fear of burning a piston. I pulled the head today after hearing a leak on number three intake from a leak-down test. I'm putting parts in an ECS cart, but am not sure which thickness head gasket to buy. Stock is .9, but with an eventual turbo upgrade I am wondering if I should go ahead and upgrade to the 1.2mm. There's also a .036 head gasket, but I really don't know about that one.
Also, here's a few pics of my head. I will be pulling the valves on three, but if anyone sees something I don't lmk... This is my first time replacing internals.

Btw, left side is intake...

Cylinder One

Cylinder two

Cylinder three

Cylinder four

I would just go stock thickness unless you plan on milling the head. Lots of cars with upgraded turbos that never touch the gasket. What I see looks pretty good. I don't know if you've tried new ignition coils and plugs, but that should fix the misfire.

New coils. New plugs. Have checked all grounds. And the engine only has about 5k on it. There's a **** load of carbon tho. Which I didn't think there should be so much with that mileage. It does need a carbon cleaning. So next I'm going to remove the valves to get a look at the seats.

Also, I am curious if the blistering on three's intake side is normal?

Fuel injector on 3 looks clogged. Might want to try cleaning the tips while you're there, then some good injector cleaner and top tier (Shell 93) gas when it's back together.

The gasket size should be stock unless you have the head or block machined. Shops normally cut .3 to flatten the head when warped.

The 'Standard' Head gasket is 0.90mm thick and the thicker 1.20mm gasket is +0.30mm thicker than stock.

Yep, stock unless machined.

The engine was rebuilt 5k miles back. Warranty has expired as I do not drive it much. So I went with the 1.20 +.3 from ECS (my order history involves scrolling 🙄&#128521. While I have it apart I'm going to check out the harness in case something is damaged and grounding out, and also flipping the injectors. I really don't want to get this back together only to have the misfire still there.

A good machine shop will have the numbers for the stock head and be able to measure it to tell if its been machined. They did this with my BMWs M50 head.

i will do that today to make sure. And correct me if I'm wrong, but if I put the 1.2 +.3 gasket on a head that's not machined, it would change the flame front? I'm a bit paranoid that this cyl 3 misfire will still be there once reassembled.

You want to have the ideal space for proper compression, running thicker on non shaved head will slightly lower compression.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I'm being told by my shop to put a thicker head gasket on (part #11127586908). I'm trying to get them to measure the head after it was resurfaced for the 2nd or maybe 3rd time. But I'm trying to find the BMW TIS/ISTA figure for the N14 minimum cylinder-head height. Anyone know where I can find that info? appreciate the help
