Replace N12 PCV Valve only (with ECS Vaico kit)

Are there any videos that show how to replace just the PCV membrane, spring and plastic cover?

Found a few videos for the N14 but not the N12.

I’m trying this first before replacing the valve cover.

thanks

simple enough, use a slim pick and carefully undo the first clip which is the only one you can see, then gently prise up the cover using a small flat head screw driver. To get to the left hand clip you'll need to remove the coil, again easy enough. With your screw driver prising up the cover get your pick in and try to locate the second clip. Get that and move to the rear right one again using the screw driver to lift the cover a couple of millimetres. Again get in there and try to prise the clip off, the 4th clip should come off itself now. This might preserve the cover, but not guaranteed as they are ver friable. The other thing to look into is the actual PCV vent hose, the part with the fabric shroud on it, this often fails and you cannot see the break as it is covered. This is an inlet manifold off job (always replace the inlet seals and throttle seal when doing this). Youtube has videos for the tube. 5 torx bolts holding the manifold on, an on the N12 there is tricky 10mm bolt underneath that has to come off blind, fingers can find it but you'll never see it. Doable though with patience.

why would you not try to preserve the original. Madness to profess destroying the cover surely

if you don’t feel the need to keep the old one intact then go ahead and break it. Nothing wrong with a spare and the chinese and russian diaphragms dont seem to last as long, few years.

i read another thread about that. I’ll be careful and try and save the original cover and keep the one with the ECS kit as a spare.
