Are you referring to maps or software? If the latter, first find out what version of software you're running to see if it's the latest.
There's a sticky above - How To: Update Nav...

Pioneer with a separate mountable touchscreen. Nav works with your phone. Have a cubby hole where the original radio was, the base unit fit sideways behind the screen (just fit) where the old nav screen was.

Nice!

Got any more details? How did you mount the screen?

What model Pioneer unit?

Any pics of install?

This is what Pioneer calls their modular series. The closest model is DMH-C2550NEX. The base unit to it is smaller than a normal radio. Nothing special about the install, just removed the old nav screen, popped off the first trim piece and cut into the bottom corners behind the trim until the screen fit flushed. The round chrome bevel was cut to fit and was snatched from a normal cooper without nav at a junkyard (with the other chrome rings). The base unit for the screen can go into the small opening that the nav unit left if turned sideways, cocked at an angle, this leaves a hole for the radio that can be made into a cubby hole with a universal adapter. The screen does not sit entirely flush like the nav screen but does not look bad. This unit has android auto, there are newer models now too. Everything else was just replaced, speakers, amp, etc. The compact 12" pioneer bass box fits snuggly in the hole in the back. I put the two amps I am using right next to it to fill the rest of the hole, everything sits pretty even when the seats are down now. This is the 6.8" screen, the same width as normal din size, they did at the time have larger screens, so stick with the 6.8" with the buttons on the side, or the more expensive one that is the same width with the buttons on the screen. I like the buttons myself.

OP-my apologies for the thread hijack!

Cliff-thanks for the info. One more question - how is the screen secured? Any issues with squeaks/rattles?

I just used 2 very small pieces of double sided tape to secure, but it fits pretty snug in itself. Cutting the bottom corners of the dash was not bad, most of it is foam, you just have to go a little bit at a time until it fits the way you want. I am lucky here, have a u-pull it place that I can get those dash pieces for dirt cheap. No problems with vibrations or it moving around.

If you happen to know, are the plugs that illuminate the gas gauge and warning lights above the screen different from the plug that had gone into the original nav unit? Looking to do something like this in my mini, but dont currently have the nav unit. (I know that the nav unit has a plug that would go into it, just dont know if that plug controlled any of those lights)
