Why does just my iPod audio crackle in the R53?
My audio sounds awful when listening to my iPhone in the car, like crackling of popcorn or the pops of a vinyl record except way louder and disorienting. It’s only on my iPod channel, radio and cd audio have no crackling so I can rule out speakers being the issue. The crackling happens on the channel even when audio is paused. I’m 95% sure this is the cables o have from the OEM installation the dealership did back in the day. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...xoC6ZUQAvD_BwEWhat I want to know is how do I fix it before removing the radio and looking at the back of it because that seems like a big to do and any replacement pieces I’d like to have on hand so I only have to take it apart and put it back together once. Also is there any way of getting the replacement wires cheaply, I don’t know why I’d spend $250 on wires when I could buy an entire radio for half the price. My current thought is that it’s either the connection of the black cable (that goes from iPod to box) to its Y box, the Y box, or the connection from the Y box to the back of the radio. Has this happened to anyone else?
Could be the 20 pin? Module? or wire set? Most of the time I am the only person in the world that has found info and separate part numbers of the kits, MINI does not supply this.

I have linked all the parts of the kits, maybe the module is bad?
In the future if you take the oem MINI part number and dump it into the search box on this forum you will find all the info.

I’d buy the module first as that’s where I’ve seen the popping you describe happen before. If that doesn’t work only then replace the cable.
ecs tuning sells them both iirc.
neither is more than a 15 minute job, but replacing the module only requires pulling the head unit out, not both the head unit and glove box.
if you were local I’d suggest testing your module on our known good unit to confirm… or if you know someone local that has a working on3 still, try testing your module on their car.
