i'm in desprate need of tires again
been running the Yokohama ES-100's (twice) & love them....cheap & sticky
but i've been thinking about trying something new
any suggestions?

After my Yoko es100s, I am thinking about trying the Falken FK-451. With a treadware of 280 and stick well enough for a victory in STX. The only problem is that they don't come in an exact match for 205/45/17 (205/40/17, 215/40/17 and 215/45/17 exist).

Falken is also coming out with their next gen. Azenis in Nov.

I have been having good luck with the Toyo Proxes T1S. But I have not run the Yokos for comparision, so I have no idea of the differences. The Toyo's have excellent build quality and they are round ( not as easy to find as it may seem) and fairly light. The T1S tread design is awesome in the wet but a bit on the noisy side.

ive had RE750 for about 10,000km now, and i love them...
they can be noisy, but they grip like glue on dry asphault, hot or cold (and i mean cold as in like 10 degrees celcius)

in the wet though they lose some of their composure

but i'd still recommend it over the SP5000, Pirelli P6 all road, and Birdgestone RE92 tires that i've had tried on other cars

Kumho MX will satisfy your Dragon urges in the dry. The Toyo T1S is also a great choice, but a touch more expensive. I know you like to run 215/45-17's Kool, but I recommend 215/40-17, which will have a marginally wider footprint and will be a few tenths shorter giving better gearing.

I choose the 40 series for the same reasons as Ryan. Plus, it gives me a built in ticket insurance since actual speed is a touch below what is displayed. Mostly I wanted slightly more RPMs at a given speed off the line.

They won't last long on the street with a UTQG: 50 AA/A tread rating.

A buddy of mine is running Falken FK-451's right now after he wore out the previous set of ES100's... He said the 451's provide a much nicer ride on the street but aren't as capable as the ES100's at the limits, especially in the wet. Even so, he said he is enjoying the plusher ride on his daily commute... His estimate is that the FK-451 is about 9/10th's as capable as the ES100's...

FWIW, he's going back to ES100's the next time he needs street tires, though...
