Hi everybody, just introducing myself.

Hi all. I just purchased a MCS MC40 and am loving it. Happily married father of three (in So Cal) and my wife seems to think this is my mid life crisis car. My chosen name for the forum comes from my sons nickname on his soccer team. Heard of the website and forums from a friend and started reading. Seems to be quite a bit of knowledge here, so I think I will hang around awhile. Just wanted to take the opportunity to say hi.

Welcome!!! You doesn't have to say "mid-life crisis", say "mid-life awakening"!

You have come to a place of peace within yourself... you have discarded the old you for a much wiser you. You have awakened your "inner MINI" and have found a new way to express yourself.

Godspeed.

Thanks for the welcome guys and gals!

Indiman, thank you for the compliment about the car. I have tinted the windows and put on a bike rack (Might be sacriledge here, but necessary as I fancy myself a cyclist too!) Hopefully, if I ever figure out how to upload the pictures from my digital camera, I can post a pic or two. (If you all aren't tired of seeing pics of Minis) Mini giant, I live in Claremont, and work in Covina. I see that you are in Temple City. We are pretty close to one another. I just received an invite from Crevier Mini for a Rally on Oct. 10th. Has anybody here done anything like this? Are they fun? Another quick question, what are the letters after the years of car manufacture that people list on their posts (eg. 04 mcs pw/b)? Is it the color?

Welcome MINI d!

Yes indeed, we use initials to identify the different colors offered in the MINI line-up (Past and present). For example, PW means "Pepper White" and PW/B means "Pepper White" with "Black Roof". CR means "Chili Red", LY "Liquid Yellow", EB "Electric Blue", HB "Hyper Blue", VR "Velvet Red", SG "Silk Green", PS "Pure Silver", DS "Dark Silver", JB "Jet Black", CB "Cosmos Black, IB "Indy Blue", CB "Cool Blue", HO "Hot Orange", PH "Purple Haze", AB "Astro Black", BRG "British Racing Green".

Hope this helps.

PS: Chili Red/White rules!!!!! Great choice!!!!

Welcome to NAM, mini_d! I'm in West L.A., and have a very good friend in Claremont....neat place!

 Be sure to check out the SoCal Regional Forum here. You need to know that there are a number of fun MINI clubs in the area. Check it all out!

 And if you have any questions about the site or the clubs, send me a Private Message (PM)! Click on my name, a little drop-down menu will appear giving you several choices, tag on "send a private message!"

Great to see your enthusiasm!

Mini D - my girlfriend thinks the same thing - I am 38 today - but I explain that that is impossible because I have had Minis since high school. My '04 S is my first new MINI, though. Where do you live in SoCal? I am in the Irvine area (Tustin Ranch) in Orange County.

Mid-life crisis? Hmmm...it could be. I think my MINI (day of delivery approaching soon!) is something of a mid-life crisis. I'm not sure, as I think my mid-life crisis started about 6 years ago, 5 years before I left my ex-wife. I am 37 now, so...does that mean (hmmm...let's see, 37-6=31, 31x2=62) that I will only live to be 62 years of age? How long is a mid-life crisis supposed to last? And, for that matter, who thought up all this "mid-life crises" BS anyway?

Well, I guess, whatever it is, we have to call it something, eh? I've driven quite a few different vehicles over the years. I've been proud of one or two of them, but I've never been EXCITED about any of them! Now, I'm single, my last car lease just ended, and I'm finally ready for something FUN. I've not had enough fun in life, and what fun I have had usually ended up being nothing but pointless waste in the end. The MINI, no matter how well taken care of, will eventually see it's last day, so does that make it a whole 'nother pointless waste?

The thing is...some of those pointless wastes in my past, well...they could have possibly turned out otherwise, one or two of them. (We're talking relationships here.) And then, even though they would have eventually seen some kind of end (the death do us part kind?), I think it still would have been (was) worthwhile to pursue that happiness. Of course, I could be completely wrong about that, couldn't I?

Maybe that's part of what getting the MINI is about, for me. I'm not in a relationship now, and don't see getting in one anytime soon. (Heck, I've not been in a worthwhile one for years anyway!) Of course, having Herpes doesn't help in that department. (But that's a subject for another day, or...er...perhaps never, on this site. ) So, the MINI is going to be something of a new love in my life, so to speak. One I can take care of, that will (hopefully) bring me great joy, that will take constant care, and work, but (barring theft or horrendous accident) will always be there, as long as I stay commited to her.

Hmmm, ok...sounds a little weird, eh? Ok, how about this then as well: She's something of a fantasy vehicle (at least to SOME of us out there). She's special, unique, but still somehow obtainable, and affordable, unlike...er...some woman folk out there, and/or some cars out there. So...

Does that make anymore sense? Is wanting THAT part of the symptoms of a mid-life crises? Or, maybe this is just me? I guess we all have our reasons for our love affair with, fascination with, the new MINI. Actually, I always wanted (since I was...7? 8?) a Jaguar E-Type. I loved those cars, and still do, and always will. But...let's face it, they are now very old, always troublesome, not inexpensive, automobiles. I'd still love to have a cherry one. From a realistic point of view, that's not a realistic option for me (like some unobtainable pin-up girl), but the MINI is. Yet, the MINI is JUST as desirable to me.

Ok, enough of my going off on a tangent there. As regards your interest in MINI's, we can't blame you. We all suffer the same affliction, so you are in the PERFECT place! We never grow weary of people posting their pics of their MINI. (Are you kidding? Of course we don't! We are a nutty bunch here! ) With all the options, every MINI is just a little bit different, so there always seems to be something new to see. Plus, even if the pic is of an exact MINI type one of us happens to have...well, heck, we all love looking at pics of our own MINI's as well. So, it's ALL good. If you ever need it, you'll get some great MINI advice here. You only need to ask, and the forum will answer...even when you don't want SOME members TO answer. They will anyway! (But, like I said, it's all good. )

Welcome to the club. (The...er...MINI club that is, not the previously mentioned H club, which would be a whole 'nother website. )
