Airbag battery cable

Hi Guys!

I've a problem with my R53..the airbag light

My mechanic said that the problem is the cable connected to the positive of the battery

Here there's a photo of the cable:

I think that should be the number 8:

Someone can confirm the part number and maybe know the price?

Thanks in advance and sorry my english

The red cable in your picture is the positive battery cable. It is part #1 on the diagram you posted. It is expensive as it has a special pyrotechnic feature that disconnects the electrical system in case there is a crash.

The part number depends on what month and year your car was made. That data can be found on the metal plate on the drivers door post of your car.

Cars produced up to 07/2004 is part number 61121508931
Cars produced after 07/2004 is 61126942507.

You can get list price and see the online discount price from dealers like Mass Mini (I have no affiliation, just know they post prices online).

Part 61126942507 is $395 list, online $316

Part 61121508931 is $355 list, $284 online

Can you post a picture of the gray tag on the short wire - one of the numbers on that should be the part number.

Sorry, I can't find that part by itself. Maybe someone else can find it.

It is included in the positive battery cable, but that costs a lot. You can see it in these pictures for part # 61121508931

No problem, thank you very much for your help.

Probably there's no way to find the airbag cable itself...

Looks like if you zoom in on the ECS photo you can see a part number for the Tyco cable. Also junkyard scavenging might get you something.

Yea, looks like its not a separate part on the diagram, Do you have the part number off the tyco part, gray tag.. I can try to search it but sometimes they dont come up even through there is a BMW / MINI part number( Its for internal ).
