We just bought a used 2012 Countryman S, with the Split Center Rail, Factory Armrest and rear Bucket Seats. MINI Mania states that the Rear Cupholder kit that mounts at the end of the Front Rail[ on the floor] will fit our Countryman. However, I had some co-workers call MINI Parts Hotline and they said no, the front rail is too long on the 2012 until they modified it for the 2013 model .
Has anyone with a 2011 or 2012 Countryman added the floor mount kit to their MINI? The 'Pod" style Rear Rail Cupholders were already broken or about to break when we bought the MINI, so just replacing them doesn't look like a good long term option if they're that fragile.

If it helps, we don't have the power outlet at the rear trim on the Front Rail, just a blanking plate in the middle of the plastic trim cover.

I just pulled up a 2012 CM S on RealOEM. Not sure how long the half rail is but you can select your vehicle and production date here.

i added both the larger front cupholders and the rear cupholders to my 03/2012 built all4 ... no problems at all

 

x2 i have a center armrest on a 2012 and added the rear cup holder a couple weeks ago with no issues at all.

 

I just put front and rear cup holder upgrades into my 2011 last week, no problems here either. And kudos to everyone that gathered the info and helped me along the way with my questions.


Paid $163 for BOTH front and rear parts from ECS Tuning, including shipping from Ohio, so your final price may be a little different, but I'd wager it's much less than MINI Mania. Quick check on their website is $108.43 before shipping.


Also make sure you order the correct part number for the Cup Holder Lower Section if you do or don't have a factory installed Front Center Armrest.


Note that you have to order a pair of each of the rubber parts but you only need to order one screw and nut because you can reuse the three that already attach the installed trim piece (1).


You'll need a 13mm socket wrench to install the metal bracket and a T20 Torx driver for the screws.

Thanks for all the great replies. so it sounds like it's not a big deal at all. Any one have any pictures of their rear cupholders installed?
A very big thanks to the OEM pictures, we have the 'flat' trim end cap on the rail with that oval blanking plate as pictured in the OEM drawings.
So to add fire to our mix, I test drove a 2012 Clubman S last night with some real thoughts about trading my 2002 Montero Limited in for it.
Another CPO vehicle, with 30,000 miles, Pepper White, with Carbon Black interior, and Auto trans. The Automatic doesn't bother me in the least, and the only real sticking point will be if my Mother-in-Law can easily fit into the R/F seat, and get out again... Insert your own jokes here...
Also, her wheelchair needs to be able to fit through the rear barn doors and into the rear with the seats folded up. That WOULD be a deal breaker as at least one of our vehicles has to be able to transport her and either a walker or a folded flat wheelchair.
I will test the wheelchair for a fit on Saturday Morning, so who knows, we may be a 2 MINI family by this weekend

Wait, so your front rail is a little longer and the end cap is #2 from the illustration? I thought they only used that if your Countryman had the one-piece front-to-back rail? Odd change to make in its second year... Maybe you need to post a photo too. I'll post photos with everything disassembled if that helps at all.

I can see relocating the power socket (sounds like it's between the rear seats?), so that it doesn't intrude on the foot well or get kicked, but it would get reverted to the original design purely by the fact that rear buckets are no longer available in the US.

 

I'm pretty sure that the end cap #1 and the blanking plate #3 are what we have. Car is not in front of me, so I will post a picture last tonight.
Looks to me that I need #5 end cap and any associated parts to go with it, plus the lighter socket to fit into #7

Thanks for the order Those rear cupholder come in handy for the rear passengers, also provides room if you don't want anything blocking the toggle bank in the front with larger sized drinks.

 

Yep, that would be the lighter/power socket that I'd want to add to the cupholder job when I finally order parts later this month.
I took off the blanking plate and looked inside the front rail.
Not as cluttered as I thought it might be considering that the parking brake cables head towards the rear of the rail, so running power from the Front Lighter/Power Socket back to the end of the rail won't be that bad of a job.
Thanks again for all the great info. I won't touch base with this thread until I order my parts and start taking pictures of the install/mod work to post in the future.

 

Parts order in with ECS Tuning for the rear cupholder parts and add-on lighter/power socket that sits between them. I'll take picutres of the job once I get around to it. Thanks again for everyone's help and info with this.....: thumbsup:

I'm confused, I created a whole thread on the install of these parts some time ago???? that WAS the update, complete with pictures that I took during the work.

ECS has the kit as one part #. Going to order it today. At the moment, it's only $113 and change. I've been wanting to do this for a while but never found it cheap enough. ECS is just cheap enough for me to pull the trigger.
