Newbie needs tire suggestion

Hi, newbie here. Bought a 1st-gen Cooper S about 18 months ago - can't even remember the year, believe it or not - and it's time to buy some tires.

Currently it is running Pirelli Pzero 205/45/R17. Two of the tires are worn, which gives me the opportunity to shop for other tires. I know nothing about tires so I don't know what seasoned Mini folks can suggest.

The ones currently on the car I reckon are good, but they ride hard. I knew this when I was shopping for Minis so it's not such an issue other than I don't want anything more punishing than what it currently is.

I live in CA so I normally don't have to deal with inclement weather, but I also may move to a Southern clime which likely has rain, so I am open to that consideration but it should not be a motivating factor in your suggestion.

I probably am forgetting something so just ask if it helps with your answer - thanks!

I'd suggest going to tirerack.com and spend some time reading up on different tires. Tire choice all depends on what you're looking for in a tire. Do you want something with lots of grip, something smooth and comfortable riding. Or do you want high a high mileage tire? The writeups and customer reviews there will be very handy. This is how I learned about tires. Oh and I run the Hankook ventus V12 evo tires.

Hi from so cal lol, if i were you, I will stay away those 'all season' rubber if your mini never go to an icy or snowy area. Stick to the summer rubber if the worst thing you encounter is rain. summer rubber much grippier (more fun, whole point of owning a mini lol), but treadlife is shorter tho. Coz if you dont rotate them, they really goes really quick

Never a run flat or too low profile tire.A 45 is rather hard, I prefer a 55.Michelin Pilote is the top for me

Thanks for the suggestions - I will check 'em all out after my first Disney jaunt in 30 years (girlfriend's birthday).

I've found I like the BFG Force Sport Comp2 the best. They are quiet, have good grip and get good mileage out of them.

For a comfortable max performance summer tire in 205/45/17, I'd either go with
the Michelin Pilot Super Sport or the Continental ExtremeContact DW.

I like the grip that my Michelin Pilot Super Sports have in wet weather and are equally good in warm weather! You only get 25,000 miles out of them but it's top notch handing during that time!
