Door dent

Well it was probably inevitable but only three months old and my countryman got its first ding in the door from someone opening their door into me. Doesn't look like I have any paint damage except the white scuff that their door left and obviously the fat ugly dent. Anyone on here get something similar repaired? How much did it cost?

PDR costs depend on location. If they can drill a small hole in the door frame area by latch or on bottom to provide tool access, probably around $100.

If they have to remove door panels, then it goes up from there per hr. Hopefully its in a soft spot of the door where no reinforcement beams are present allowing easy access.

A good PDR guy can work metal miracles !

Cost also depends on dent size. Up to dime size is the minimum cost you see advertised. I had a 3-4 inch taken out of the front of my bonnet for $200. Also, you want dent removal, not repair. And I wouldn't want any drilling if they could remove interior panels.

The holes are not even 1/2 inch and they are then treated and plugged up nicely. Doubt one would even notice since the plugs have appearance of oem.

For after the fact future reference only (one door scar m'self): Never park among the hoards. There are always places away from or at the very end slot (right at the outside edge) where you can keep away from mindless idiots.

A good PDR guy should be able to get dent out without drilling. Getting a dent out in a door depends on where it is and what's behind it. Last door dent removed on the R53, my guy had me drive to BMW body shop where he subcontracts so they could remove the door - only takes about 15 minutes. There was a crease where the door skin meets the frame, complicated repair but he got it done perfectly and without drilling. Good PDR guy is worth gold.

Sitting in the dealership this week, I overheard another Mini customer being asked by the MA, for $135 they would fix a ding on her door panel.

PDR is the way to go. A buck or a buck and a quarter is normal. You won't ever notice it and no painting involved. Worth every penny. Have had dozens taken out in all my cars over the years. Here is my PDR guy working on my MIATA. it was a 6 inch crease. I took the door off for him in 10 minutes. Ouch! http://www.bodysidemoldings.com/Body...ings-s/327.htm

These guys do not have door guards for a Mini, they DO have protection for a Fiat (which they say is more popular than a Mini.)
