Stupid deer...

As you can guess from the title, I had a small encounter with a deer earlier tonight. The damage isn't bad, all things considered. The chrome ring around the driver's headlight is broken and popped off, there's some damage on the bumper, a small dent on the hood, and the trim around one of the ducts in the front bumper broke off as well.

I found the chrome ring for relatively cheap (<$25) but I can't find the trim piece for the vent. It looks like part of the intake or a duct that leads to the intercooler, on the driver's side as well, just next to the fog light.

Does anyone know the part number for the vent trim? I'm attaching pictures so you can see the damage and see what I'm asking about...

I don't know the part number for this trim piece, but I will tell you the way to find out.
Call T.J. at Detroit Tuned here in Michigan. He and Chad have and extensive knowledge of everything MINI, plus they can order factory parts, and can probably ship them to you for less than your local dealers parts department.
They have helped me and MANY times with factory and aftermarket parts and their awesome advise.
Hope this helps

well i dont know the part number but i do those vents are meant for the front brakes not for the intercooler, so perhaps changing your search to that will give you better results.

A stupid deer decided to run into the side of me two weeks ago. Thought it was minor superficial damage, but still cost over $2,000 at the body shop. Getting the car back on Friday and figured they could swap out the regular viper stripe for CF stripes. Deer population control needed badly!!

Good to know. I wasn't searching by part name at the time. I was trying to search by "body - front" etc...

I did collect the missing pieces from the road before I left the scene, and I took a picture of the broken part I'm looking for, and there are numbers on it...I'm wondering if that's the part number?

And I think the deer lost, but it did manage to scurry away. I hit it at maybe 25-30 mph. I had just turned on to a street that leads out of my neighborhood, so I wasn't going very fast. I did manage to swerve a bit so I didn't hit it squarely, but I did see some fur flying... I also realized that it caused my driver's side fog lamp to stop working. I'm guessing the bulb is blown, because I don't see any other damage but I haven't had the chance to investigate it deeper. I'll look at it later today.

EDIT: That is a part of the part number. I found the piece I'm looking for. It was under the category of "vehicle trim" once I searched for the part number, I found it. Sadly, it's more expensive than the chrome ring for the headlamp...But all in all, I'm coming out of this with less than $100 in damage, so I shouldn't complain...

Great! Thanks! I ordered from ECSTuning today for the parts I need. I didn't know those vents were available in chrome...although I don't want them in chrome...it's good to know they're available!

I was looking at it again, the fog lamp and head lamp are still aligned properly, but the hood is a little more crooked than I thought. I may have to get someone to see if they can realign it and pull the dent sooner than I originally expected...

You are welcome s0n1c ,

Check the bracket on the fog light or position light and I would also inspect the bumper skin alignment. And #9 on the lower lip ok , they can sometimes crack on impact.

On the fog light there is a screws on the bottom and one on the top of the bracket, they can be aligned a little, but not much by those points.

Looks like you have the fog /position light, but there is also the position light only version. Either way check for the mounts to be cracked or broken. You will have to get behind the fender liner to check where these mount to back of the bumper skin.

OR

#1 Parking Light ( position light housing only ) Part # 63172751293

Good luck on the other repairs. Would be good to really inspect everything just to make sure there is no hidden damage.
