R50/53 Rear Wheel hub replacement
Rear Wheel hub replacement
I have a 04 MCS .. While pulling off the back wheel.. one of the lug nuts Snapped Flush with the rotor.. to put a long story short.. i tried to drill out the broken piece that was still in the wheel hub.. I cannot seem to get it out.. and am at a loss now as to what to do?
Do I need to replace the wheel hub now?

I was going to suggest that it would be a good time to inspect and repackage the real wheel bearings with fresh grease... However it looks like it may not be built that way. According to this, part #16 is the hub and bearing (as one sealed piece I assume)
You'll definitely need a torque wrench. Don't let the brake caliper hang on its hose, get an old coat hanger and make yourself a hook. But looks to me like you just remove the caliper, the disk, then the hub is right there.
Difficult for me to make suggestions, I've only had my MINI for a month. Remove and replace hub sure looks to be pretty straight forward from here, but I also bet that other things have rusted a bit. I'm guessing there will be a single flush mount screw that locates the brake rotor in the hub. If its a Phillips head, make sure you have the right size screw driver, unlike torx or hex heads, if there's a little play it can be easy to choose the wrong size screw driver, you wouldn't want to round it out.

I replaced the rear hub on my 2009 looks like the one pictured in AlexQS post. Simple change took about an hour to jack car, remove wheel, remove brake caliper then 4 bolts hold hub on and reassemble. New hub was a couple hundred bucks. If you have an 04 possibly high miles might as well change it. Bearings are sealed no repacking them.
thanks for all info ,,,I'm just gonna take it up to my mechanic.. is the wheel safe to drive on with 3 lugs

I would not advise anyone to drive their car with 3 lugs.... But I would take mine a short distance with only 3 lugs if I had to....being sure not to take any corners too hard.
The lip that the wheel rides on is very wide on a MINI. Not sure how to describe it, the wheel is like a sleeve that fits over a cylinder about 1/2 wide on the hub. I think that's what takes the weight of the car through the wheel, not the lugs.
