Order my CMs Today - Need help

Hi All, I will order my fist CMs today and I need some input from experts here:
1) Should I buy the extended warranty called "Program Maintenance" $1895- total 6yrs 100,000?
2) Option "Piano Black Cockpit Surface" - free but is this just a black sticker across the dashboard? not so clear on mini website. should I select this? I selected "Dash Surface in Black Checkered" so I dont know if the piano black cockpit surface will match or not.
3) Still debating if I get HK sound system or not.
4) Run Flat Tires or not?

these are the options im getting for sure: auto trans, flat load floor, Xenon, anthracite headliner, rear sensor, arm rest front. everything else is standard. im trying to build below $30k if possible.

Thanks

I wouldn't get piano black. It's shiny and seems to always have dust and fingerprints.
I'd get the HK as it HAS to be better than the stock, which leave a bit to be desired.

Not sure about the cockpit surface...but if you enjoy listening to music, the HK system is a no brainer. My 17 yr old daughter gives the HK system a thumbs up since I passed our CM onto her for her first car....as far as the run flats, ours came with as we were not given the option in 2011 when we ordered ours, but within 2 months after delivery, i had those bad boys switched for Non Run Flats....would opt for Non Run Flats if you can.....

thanks for the pictures but this is for the "Dash Surface" option, do you have a picture for the "cockpit surface" with piano black and without? thanks for your input about MS & HK sound.

Isn't the extended warranty something you can purchase anytime during the OEM warranty period (i.e. the first 36 months)?
The extended warranty makes more sense if you know you love the car and are going to keep it well beyond the original warranty period.
Why not put off that $1895 decision until you decide how much you like the car?
All your other choices look good, BTW.

Thanks. I was thinking about this too. If I can add it before the manfacture warranty expires then Ill wait and see if I like to keep the car any longer.

1) Should I buy the extended warranty called "Program Maintenance" $1895- total 6yrs 100,000?
Read the fine print. Is it a warranty against parts that fail or maintenance where they change the oil once a year? If former, it depends on whether you think you will keep the car that long and think you will have a major failure during that period. If maintenance, it's a pass IMO.

2) Option "Piano Black Cockpit Surface" - free but is this just a black sticker across the dashboard? not so clear on mini website. should I select this? I selected "Dash Surface in Black Checkered" so I dont know if the piano black cockpit surface will match or not.
I have it and I like it (others don't) but it looks like you already decided to go with somehting else so that's perfect.

3) Still debating if I get HK sound system or not.
I did and I think it's just OK. Makes me wonder what the standard system sounds like.

4) Run Flat Tires or not?
CM's only come with run flats. You can pick summer or all season, but they are all runflats.

Q1 no you can wait you have 3 years before you cross that bridge

Q2 piano = NO, go with the other option

Q3 HK for sure it sounds great and is worth it

Q4 run flats are not the smoothest ride but good to have for safety especially with the lack of spare

HAVE FUN MOTOR ON...............

Personally I would get the extended warranty! My CMS4 will be a year old next month and has been back for warranty work 5 times. My standard 36k warranty will be up in about 8 months. I am going to have to shell out the $1900 in cash now to extend the warranty so that they will cover this clutch when it dies in the next few months. (And it WILL)

Check the fine print because most warranties do not cover wear items. The clutch typically falls under wear items category.

I'd get the cockpit surface in whatever finish you're going to have on your doors.

Extended Warranty for Repairs- No wait and buy it from another provider ie Costco much cheaper.

Piano- Yes, I have it and think it looks good.

HK- Yes, I have it and it is good except for the low end bass. Not much thump there but there are many threads on how to improve it.

It is going to have run flats no matter what from the factory. Replaced mine at 12k due to a side wall break after hitting a nasty pothole.Ride is much better with non rf's. The rf's will probably only last 20k-25k miles.

Good luck and Enjoy.

Check with your insurance company on the Extended Warranty...

Geico has a 7 year 100,000 coverage that works out to be 10% or less of the cost of a policy from MINI - however you need to add it to your coverage within 15 months of purchase. The Geico policy has a $250 deductable - but I'll take $490 over 7 years over $6k or so over 5 years...
