I'm in!!! Ordered a roadster today...
Yes, I did it... Wasn't easy though... Had second thoughts... Bluetoy, your post this morning helped me a great deal... Many thanks to you, Kings, Spiney, and everyone else...
2013 Roadster S: pepper white (no stripes), black eyes (housing), black feet (spokes), black mirror caps ...piano black dash surface, lounge leather toffee, toffee color line.... It is completely loaded except for JCW stitching and sport suspension ...
I realize that most of you are enthralled with the Mini brand... I am not... Hope to be in time...
I wanted a roadster that met my criteria: daily driver, comfortable( love the high platform and decent cabin space... Don't have to fall in), trunk space for my large tennis bag, price, looks, mpg.... Porsche ( not practical , too expensive), Z3/Z4= the same, Mazda (not practical , don't like platform and looks...
I believe that rwd is the ideal drive; fwd feels like it is diving you... But I am experienced in both types, and fwd allows for better winter driving...
So, the Cooper wins!!!
FYI : go to bimmerpost, 1 series, e82, coupe/ convertible /and to my post: giving up my 135i, but not saying goodbye... Read the postings... You will find them interesting, I'm sure...
Best,
John. Aka: JoNack

Hi Spiney,
Got it in Bedford, NH... They took care of me... Decent deal... 2000.00 off the top ( top = 37,700.00) , and 18500.00 for my car...
Not sure how to post pics or how to show configurator ...
Thanks for helping me!

Congrats John on the new Roadster...I believe you will love it
You've built a really nice one! I haven't had a chance to look at your 135i thread, did you mod your BMW? Planning on modding the Roadster? Looking forward to you sharing your experiences.

Hi Andy,
Our cars will look very similar ... You have good taste... I must admit, this call was exceptionally difficult for me... It's just not a car, the roadster is a lifestyle change...
Thanks for your help...
Question: I won't need snows this year; however, my MA believes that I could navigate ( with care) our winters with good all season tires, and that many of his customers don't have snows ... What do you think?

Get winter tires, trust me. My Michlin have gotten me to work, very nicely this year with three major snows. Congrats on the build and order. Did you go with the JCW packs like I am doing? I'll be finalizing my order next week.
Mine is Pepper White, haven't decided on stripes yet, maybe after market in red. JCW paks, heated seats, rear fogs, black head lights, Xenons, Mini Connect and auto for my great wife, who lets me play with both hotrods, and Mini's. so I get the auto this time around.

I have a JCW hatch that I got back in 2010. The JCW Paks include the Aero package, Xenons, DTC, Challenge wheels in aluminum, and some other things that I can't remember right now.
Hi John,
I always put Blizzak's on my Miata's, fantastic tires made the rear wheel drive drivable in the winter, not in deep snow though..
My wife has a 2011 Hot Chocolate MINI Cooper, for the last two winters she has had no issues getting to and from work in the snow.
I'm guessing we can get away with the all seasons.
With one big but,
I always put high performance tires and light weight wheels on my Miata along with high performance suspension parts so that I would get the most fun out of the car during the warmer top down months.. I do love twisty roads.....
Lime Rock Park in my dreams
I'm going back and forth about that, looks like I have some time to ponder.
Have a blast..

If you can afford them and have somewhere to store them then definitely go with summers/winters on two sets of rims. As Zulu0001 says, you get the full fun during the summer, and as BlueToy said in another thread, you get a nice snowmobile for winter fun too!
I ran my first MINI on all-seasons, and my second on summers/winters. The second was way better in both conditions. My wife's Clubman is on all-seasons, and it's noticeably inferior to the Roadster on the Blizzaks when the weather gets interesting.

Thanks, I will most likely go with winter tires/ wheels, and when that time comes, I will be asking for suggestions... I do have designated tires / wheels on my 135i, a must!
Well guys, Spiney, BlueToy, and all, I pulled the trigger tonight, IT'S ORDERED. Maria said that it should be in production sooner, rather than later. That should be interesting. Last time it was two months right on the nose, and that was with a three week hold. Maybe they want to get the Roadsters out faster, I don't know. So, the Pepper White S, JCW packages, Cold Package, Auto headlights/variable wipers, rear fogs, Xenons, heated adjustable mirrors, rear fogs, Mini Connect, auto trans and some other things, should be on its way soon. Just thought I'd let you all know that now I will be in the Roadster Club.
