Anyone installed driving lamps themsleves on a Countryman?

I'm being quoted a redonk amount for labor on the driving lights. This forum has so much, but I searched a bit and can't find any threads on DIY driving lamps.

Is there a step-by-step guide with pics somewhere in this forum?

I did. Took about 4 hrs. Not a job for people with 10 thumbs, but absolutely doable. The instructions are ok, but the wiring diagram of the fuse box did not match, so had to measure a bit.
I made a post about the install last spring. Look at my posts and you'll find it

I did my own VIP quad light kit install. Easily doable if you can follow instructions and somewhat DIY inclined.

Agree and same here. I have the dual VIP kit and it wasn't that bad to install. I did mine over two days just (mounted the lights day one and then did the wiring on day two). Nice and slow and faily easy.

I noticed in the instructions above that there is no switch in the diagram or even in the kit itself. sap 2000 told me that the Euro CMs do not have a switch. I had to refer to other instructions just to wire it in properly. Does this mean that the Euro CM's driving lights are on when the headlights are on? I am not sure that will fly legally over here? Anyways I am installing mine now and I am confused of the 1.5 hr time given for the install. I have to triple that for it to make sense and this is my second install. Only if Mini would charge 1.5 hr labor, that would be nice but highly unprobable.

I see you have a CMSA4, but I added lights to a base CM. I installed the factory mounting brackets (FYI - get the kit from Mini since you need to replace the grill too), then I added PIAA 510's. I wired into the high beams. Mounting was a little effort - but doable. Total time - 3 hrs.

No. They turn on with the hi beams. The #41 pin is supposed to give feed to the relay when you activate hi beams. In my CM as well as on others, I javelin red its not pin 41 as the instructions seems to be for r56. But easely found the right pin with a multimeter while turning on and off the hi beams..
The "driving lights" are hi beams and not driving lights/ lo beams. I think the name is misleading.

I have mine wired (right now) to run anytime I want. I the a switch on the drivers side that controls them (on/off) independent of my headlights.

So far it meets my needs just fine and was very easy to do.

Cheers and good luck

So I finally got this finished. Pin 41 red/yellow (which was used per manual) did not work for me but I wasn't aware that they were only to be used with the high beams. So I tapped into the power wires for the switch. Now they can be switched on via supplied switch in any light position. I am happy for now.....I wouldn't mine updating the bulbs to match the blue in the Xenons. Overall install (besides wiring) was easy, the routing thru the engine compartment was a pain.

Yes

I did install Hella 500 driving lights. Didn't had time to wire it tho.

Look wise, it came our perfect in my mind and I think it looks better than oem.
