What happened to my pops and burbles?
It's gone! I drive in sport mode all the time because the throttle response helps with heel&toe, and I LOVE the pops and burbles.
But since yesterday, pops and burbles disappeared... Sport mode button still is making the steering heavier, and throttle sharper... This is so weird!
Anyone with similar experience?
ps: this is a 2011 Cooper S.

Just a thought but it might be fuel quality. Try using a higher grade maybe that will do the trick?

Thanks for the reply. I pretty much always get my fuel from the same Chevron station by my office, and I always use the highest grade.
But maybe they had bad fuel in my last fill?

Was your car up to operating temps? The way the p&b works, it drops unburnt fuel onto the hot exhaust manifold, as far as I understand it.

The car was at operating temps. And I think you're right about how the p&b works.

Maybe your car just isn't feeling talkative today.

I've noticed that mine is variable with some days being louder than others. I haven't tracked it yet to see if there is a pattern.

Ambient temperature effects my pops & burbles. In about 70 - 80 degrees there are times where I will get an extremely loud pop, almost a backfire. In the high 80's and 90's its usually justs the standard pops.

Well, I got my pops back, shortly. Then I got a check engine light. Sweet.

Love the P&B's. Once in a blue I will get a backfire like pop.

Did the OP get the codes checked to see what the issue was?
