DAM Rattle driving me crazy
so I had this car for 10 hours and i hear a rattle coming from the back every time i go over a little bump... deff the rear door.... see pics... i was banging around and i found that when i bang around the inside panel that the part with the arrows hits the glass... and maybe that's it...
BUT .. the rattle sounds like when a door is not closed all the way... so i'm doubting its this interior panel... any suggestions? going crazy

actually...this is a good point. for a while i thought it could be the rear seat belts banging against the plastic of the rear sides of the interior. i buckled them...and still hear the annoying sound. my next guess is the tray that actually covers the rear hatch area (shelf). i had a 2003 VW GTI 1.8T hatch, and all i did with that car was put some very soft felt pads where the shelf contacts the receiver. i'll check on this tomorrow and see if that takes care of it...
if the hatch wasn't closed you would get the alarm/light saying so, so i don't think its that. It could be, maybe try closing a little harder. Otherwise I'm gonna say there's something loose under that paneling if you really have narrowed it down to the hatch.
I have the same problem. The dealer said it was the strike plate and would adjust it...so what they did was put a little piece of felt or fabric around the latch, which didn't do anything. I've actually noticed that it's more noticeable when the windows are down, so I started wondering if it was something from the underbody moving around too much when you hit a bump. I need to get it up on a lift and inspect the underside and see if anything is loose. Please let us know if you find out what the culprit is though.
