Look what followed me home!

It only took about 3 weeks from picking up my Countryman for my girlfriend to cave...

Wow, that's a really good reference for the size difference!

Nice! I'm trying to talk my SO into a convertable but, with two kids, and then only having two MINI's, it's not working too well!!

The convertible was what she originally wanted but after some test driving she decided against it. The number 1 gripe was blind spots. Number 2 was where would the dogs fit?!

Really spells it out. Sitting in CM's in the showroom, I didn't get that they were *that* much larger, for some reason. Probably by design , with the derivative dash layout, similar proportions, and so on.

Awesome picture and MINI story. Great color choice on your CM, too

Similar story here, except it took 3 months!

It's a bit ironic after I had to work on my wife just to even consider the MINI since we've got kids and back then the thought was "it's too tiny."

Once she saw it (after I was able to convince her to accompany me to the dealership), she softened and eventually agreed that it'd be okay to go with the Countryman. She saw the configurator and loved the you-i-fy aspect. But I couldn't get the manual since it wasn't practical. Fair enough.

A couple months later and after occasionally driving Zoreo vs. her minivan, she ordered a loaded R57 S... with a manual tranny. Go figure. When the boss is happy, everyone is happy.

Now we've got 2 MINIs and a minivan. That R57 is quick!

my 91 year old dad wanted to be at the dealership when i took delivery of my 03/2012 countryman s all4.

we went for a ride that afternoon and several rides since.

he said to me "if i was younger i would get me one" to which i replied "if you want one get one!"

yesterday, i went to the dealer for my "free sat car wash" and got a countryman s all4 "off-loaner" and went to my dad's. he drove it back to the dealer.

there were 2 other "off-loaner" s all4 cars and he picked a white w/ blk top, THE OPPOSITE OF my black w/ white top! lol

working from memory here, but his has:
cold weather pkg, xenon HIDs, auto, 17" all-weathers, auto climate control, sunroof, anthracite headliner, 2 part center rail

he takes delivery wed next week, GO dad!

the first question he asked me as he was driving the car was "where is the sport button?" lolol

scott

ps
my sister told me she and her husband are going to get a countryman s all4 COUPE and keep their 2009 MCS, becoming a 2 mini family and bringing the family total to 4

I love your comparison photo of the two cars together. I'm still madly in love with my countryman - but I could see getting a 2 door down the road. DH and I are already "fake arguing" over who gets to drive it. I think Mini's really are addictive.

That's fantastic and quite a sharp color (if I do say so myself ). Now there's going to be a new black on white blur running through your streets!!!

Love the one bonnet stripe! Love the 91 year old rocking a CM asking for the sport button, and wearing the blue tooth!

Great story, I enjoy all such. "Gee, if I was younger / thinner / smarter / braver I might try -X- someday". And someday? Is now!

in his youth, my dad had (among other HOT cars) an MG TD MkII! i wish he (meaning ME) still had it! he also had a 1947 Indian Chief and a 1945 Harley 61"OHV dresser.

and we are both private pilots
