Does anyone have pics of their Countryman debadged? I always do this to my cars and I most likely will on this one as well. I am sure I will take the Cooper S badge off the rear for sure, what do you guys think about removing the All4 badge as well? Any pics would help.....Thanks

 

If you are removing the All4 badge, make sure you put in an AWD sticker somewhere else. If you get towed, and the towing company improperly tows your AWD vehicle, it'll be hard to sue for damages if there is no badge anywhere warning them about it.

AWD cars needs to get towed on a flatbed, or using a wheel dolly.

Yeah I might just take the cooper S off and leave the All4 badge on, can't decide. I guess I have at least another 6 weeks or so to decide

Just looks so much cleaner without any stinkin' badges. Here is my debadged Wrx and my wife's soon to be gone debadged and demolded Yukon.....

 

Some people do it because it's easier to clean/wax/buff, some for looks.

 

I think it just looks better. And I don't mind saying I drive a MINI, but someone who really knows and cares about MINI knows what two tail pipes means. If I have an ALL4, I leave it on, at least the 4 anyway.

You take off the interior trim starting at the top and working your way down. The Wings are held in place with four nuts. I sprayed mine with plastidip, but and high performance enamel will do as well.

 

well you cant remove the MINI badge on the back as its the latch lol but the All 4 can be removed and the cooper S but i paid a few grand for those stickers so i dont mind showing it off.

i did debage my Z4 however and that looked good, but its a sports car so it helps make it sleeker, the quirkyness of the countryman isnt harmed by the badging in my opinion but what the hell make it your own.....

 

I will probably just end up leaving all the badges on it. I don't want to take the All4 badge off because of the reasons you have all listed and I don't think it will look right with just the All4 badge and no Cooper S badge. So guess it will remain stock. Thanks for all the comments guys and gals......on a side note. The car's completion day is supposed to be today!

 

My wife asked me "why does it have that ugly red S on the back when nothing else on the car is red?" So I'll be removing it like I've always done on my cars.

Sometimes I sit in traffic behind a car that is just plastered with stupid emblems and wonder why the car needs to say "ABS" or "fuel injection" or whatever, in addition to the make, the model, the company logo... it just becomes a big fustercluck. Sometimes less is more.

Are Countryman JCWs debadged automatically? After reading this thread, I saw an ad for one and realized that there was no "Countryman" across the back.

Never noticed before.

This seems like a good time to ask stupid questions: How does one remove the badges? And are there no holes or divots or paint damage under them? My countryman is a 2012, so is it possible the paint under (or around) the badge is faded and you'll be able to tell where it was?

 

Several ways to do it. I have found the best way is to heat around the letters (heat gun or blow dryer) for several minutes. Next take a small lbs test fishing line and then "saw" (slight back and forth motion) behind the letter with the line. This should cut through the adhesive that holds the letters on.

I debadged my CM the day after I got it. It was really hot out that day so
I just parked with the letters facing the sun for a few hours to heat them up. I then used a plastic putty knife to lift a corner up on the letters. I was then able to pull the letters off. Be careful not to break the letter though, which will scratch your paint. Once all the letters were off, I used a little goo-gone ( or whatever kind of petroleum based "goo" remover you chose) to get the remaining adhesive off. Then a quick wash of the area. Don't think the paint has faded in less than 2 years. If so a little wax and polish should do the trick. Using a clay bar first might help also with the finish. Nothin' to it but to do it.
