loud microphone reception

Hello!

I'm a new proud owner of a countryman. Just picked it up Saturday!

I was on the highway yesterday and made several phone calls with the bluetooth handsfree set. All three people I talked to said it sounded like I was standing next to a waterfall. Not happy about this.

Anyone experienced the same and figured out what the problem is? Is the microphone low quality?

I did notice another thread talking about the mic being oriented towards the passenger seat instead of the driver because of the conversion from the UK version. Is this the cause?

Thanks much!

I've made several phone calls to people in my new Countryman. All of them say I sound just like I would if I were on my cell phone. No extra noise or bad reception reported. Might just be a bad mic in your Countryman.

what speeds were you traveling at? Have you made calls at highway speed?

People think I sound OK. About as good as any other built in car microphone system, even at highway speed. No waterfall noise. You can turn down the gain on the mic if it's picking up too much.

Not sure if others have done this, but moving the microphone helps quite a lot. Info on moving the microphone can be found here: Forum Posting

I had the microphone moved to the left (thanks to the forum post - the dealer had no clue) and it improved the phone pickup significantly for the driver (in the U.S.).

yeah, moving the mic is worth a shot.

How do you adjust gain?

I have Connected, and it's an option that pops up only when you're on a call. I think it's under "Tone" under "Settings."

Oh, that's interesting! I'll have to try that. I've never accessed the TONE menu during a call.

Thanks Tippy!

well I moved the mic, but people on the other end still say there is a ton of noise when I'm moving.

I guess I'll be going back to the dealer! booooo
