Changed my exhaust up a little bit (video)

I didn't like the stock sound of the exhaust. So, I ended up remove the rear muffle and leaving the center one on and then doing a center straight pipe back from there.

But do you really think I didn't have a story behind this?!

Well, I looked through every autoparts store for the parts I needed to do this in my town. They didn't have any parts for any exhaust smaller than 1 1/2". For my 1" exhaust that didn't work.

I went to the local Midas and they essentially laughed at me with my car and what I wanted to do.

I ended up at Home Depot (of all places), I walked around the metal tubing section and didn't find what I wanted. I was about to leave and I saw on a side display a tile scraper that had a 1" metal handle and the top of it was tapered in as well to make it look a little more finish. So long story short, that is what the end of my exhaust is You really have to be resourceful with these cars.

How's the exhaust volume when driving the car at speed? That's a cool solution if it works for you! Just make sure the tip extends far enough to the back so you don't get fumes coming in to the cabin. It's hard to tell if it's extended to the bumper or not based on the video perspective.

Indeed it is to the bumper! I made sure it did for that reason, measure 5 times cut once

The sound actually isn't that noticeable from inside, to hear the sound more I need to stick my head out the window, which is exactly what I wanted. (Not the sticking my head out the window part, the volume...you get what I mean hahaha).

Eventually I want to replace the whole exhaust, but for the time being I am happy with the result of this.

Oh trust me, I have been drooling over your exhaust, mister

Great story. I've never considered Home Depot for my automotive needs. Sounds good.

I once replaced a floor pan with a teflon coated cookie sheet . . . HD and even Target can solve many automotive ills

Hahah! Hey, you have to be creative with classic cars.

I didn't even think about a pea shooter, I may have to call it the pea shooter exhaust!

Love it! I'm rebuilding an old British motorcycle and I've spent more time in Lowe's than Autozone.

"Why do you need a 1" exhaust? Is it for a go-kart?"

No questions were asked while at Lowes. I guess DIY projects are expected more there.

I am going to take a video tomorrow (if I remember) without the sound of the bugs in the background.
