HD Radio dead?

I can no longer seem to get and hd radio channels in my MINI I can pull Sirius and regular radio just fine. Seems to have started about a week ago when I only get a few hd feeds, now I have none. I am assuming the antenna is fine since everything else is functional. I can pickup HD Radio in my other vehicles with aftermarket stereos just fine. Any takers? TIA

Since your tuner still available (otherwise it will show a dashed line) and works with normal radio (antenna is fine), you have turned off the HD!

If you don't have NAV you need to press the SET softkey just to the right of the AM softkey while in the tuner mode. Then in that menu recheck the HD box!

No sir! HD Radio is checked on. I have also found an oddball radio station putting out an hd feed fumbling through channels last nite. I no longer have any of the other stations I had before though. What are the other check boxes labeled RDS and PTY in the SET menu for?

RDS is for Radio Data System(shows the song and station name) and PTY is the program type identifier.

Since that check box is on, then your antenna diversity system maybe having a problem. There are three (or four) FM antennas in the car that are controlled and selected by a module called antenna diversity. You may want to take it to the dealer for diagnosis of the antenna system.

How do you know if it is in HD? I had a 2011 loaner car with the regular radio. When I drove that I think it said it was in HD. My 2011 with mini connect and nav does not show this station in hd. I did see some others noted that were in hd. How can you tell if it is coming through in HD?

I would like to add that from new I had bought the optional short antenna from Mini. Do you think that might be the problem?

OK I answered my own question. There is a HD emblem that comes up on the upper right hand side of the screen. It worked with my short antenna, factory antenna, and no antenna. It seems the station I was listening to in the other car no longer broadcasts in
HD.

HD radio antenna

Remember that the FM antenna (which HD comes in on also) is not that thing that sticks up from the roof. It is a circuit printed onto the side window.

That's not entirely the case. The Antenna Diversity system all of the available antennas for FM including both the aerial and the printed one on the hatch window.

I think someone is confusing the rear defroster with an antenna..

(unless it does BOTH?)

I am not quite sure where I read it, but I think it was the owners manual. It said that the two lines that are vertical in the rear window are antennas for the radio. I am sure it was in the defroster section. It said not to worry if those two lines look like they don't work since they are not part of the defroster.
