HK amplifier location?

I have tried to find on the forums in any information as to the location of the OEM amplifier in my MCS. I do not want to deconstruct my whole interior. I have a 2005 MCS Convertible with HK system. I am replacing the HU and amp but am not sure where the amp is located. Can anyone help point me in the RIGHT place?

It's either under the driver or passenger's seat. I think it's the driver's, as the Nav unit generally resides under the passenger seat.

In the convertible, HK amp is under the passenger seat.

Nav unit in the convertible is on the drivers side (opposite of the hardtop).

rkw you are the man, or woman. Your advice was spot on. Pulled the amp this weekend and replaced. Interesting little compartment they have designed under the seat. New amp fit in their perfectly. I now have an amp for sale on e-bay. Thanks for the help. I was worried that I was gonna have to strip down the interior.

HK Amplifier Location

Hoping that you guys from back in 2011 are still getting replies on this thread....

I need to bypass the amp, possibly replace, but the new stereo is powerful enough for me. Rather than manually run wires to all the speakers, take door trim off, remove back seat, etc I was thinking that I might just run new wires to where they come out of the amp.

Did getting to the amp require removing the seat?

Any other good place to pick up the speaker wires coming out of the amp that is easier to get to?

Thanks in advance for your feedback and thoughts.

Removing the seat is trivial. Unplug the wires underneath and remove the 4 bolts from the seat rails. And with the convertible, you have the advantage that you can put the top down first which makes it much easier to move around the interior. Don't turn on the car while the seat is unplugged, or it will trigger an airbag fault (disconnect the car battery first to be completely safe).

For anyone considering running new wiring. I'm doing it now and getting a new wire into the door is pretty horrible. I assume it to be the worst part of the install but it wasn't pleasant.
