Is Anyone repairing dead HK Amplifiers?
While I wait for my hopefully working HK Amplifier to turn up next week, it occurs to me that with all these failures of an expensive bit of kit that SOMEONE SOMEWHERE is repairing them...
my Thought is to send off my dead one for repair to have ready as a spare for the time when the eBay salvage also dies in its time.
SO Experts all where is this semi mythical Chap in a Shed , making beer money in his retirement keeping obsolete electronics functioning?

the first on I got from FleaBay was DOA and the fella has taken it back don't know how long the paypal refund will take after he gets it.
RKW I got those hits from google to; and as the first one says "Replacing this part should be done with someone will a lot of surface mount experience. The die pad is connected to the ground rail and requires a smd heat gun to remove and replace. "
I am ok with old fashioned circuits even tube type circuits Yes I am that old) but I know just enough about multilayer surface mount boards to not even think about trying it with out specialized equipment.
what I am looking for is a shop that will take the HK amplifier and for say $XXX.00 fix it and provide some sort of short warrantee

Zippy its not quite the same inside even if you do the rather complex pin changes outlined by the very ingenious fix yo don't keep all the MINI HK features such as the auto muting of the nav voice.
I have been riding with that nice navigation lady with the British accent for 12 years now and its very strange in a silent car right now.

There was an old thread on someone who fixed one, but they did not post up all the info. I swapped mine with an e46 H/K once( just as a test), but only the front channels worked

Nope, this was way before anyone talked about swapping with the E46 back in the day. I did it when I had my 2005 new and was hoping the e46 could be a direct replacement for my amp, but I am still on my original amp with 270K now.
