ProClip owners - questions

Owners of the proclip (http://www.proclipusa.com/?sectionpa...ageid=1&dtype=) I have a question -- once installed, can it be removed on the fly? i.e. could I snap in and remove it when I don't want it, say on a daily basis? Or does it clip on in a way that is really not intended for on-off applications?

Why does nobody wish to make mounts that aren't intended to stay ugly all day long sticking out of such a well designed dash interior?

It's not really intended for on/off applications. It snaps on tight and has double stick between it and the dash. You don't have to use the double stick tape but just clipped on it would be difficult to remove daily.

What kind of device are you attaching to it?

iphone 4; still trying to find a small, simple way to get the iphone 4 hooked near me (ideally, i'll build one myself to wedge into the triangle between the speedo, the vent and the top of the dash , just below where a kuda mount goes...

i've also concluded that the proclip is too far anyways, I really want it in-sight. But I also don't want a mount in any way permanent; I only need to mount my iphone like twice monthly tops.

I use one of these with a GPS, but I don't think it could be adapted to an iphone. Nice thing is the ball part unscrews leaving only the base which is unobtrusive.

what do you think of this solution?

when you take of the iphone, you can fold it down to look like this:

I mounted mine on the far left side of the dash:

It's very unobtrusive and easy to get the gadget on and off. I stash the cable on my Euro parcel shelf when not in use. It's very clean.

oh, and it's called the Soundgate M2 if you want to look into it. Amazon sells it.

It's the Soundgate M2. There's an adhesive pad that attaches a metal plate to wherever you want to install -dash or somewhere else - and then the plastic part screws onto that. I imagine it's easy to remove the adhesive, but then you wouldn't be able to reinstall unless you got a new pad or found your own adhesive. I like where I've got it installed, but it took awhile playing around in the driver's seat to decide on a location.

I'm really happy with my Proclip mount. It's not in-your-face positioned, but it sits at just the perfect distance for the ipod audio cable from MINI that goes in the center column USB and Aux-in jacks.

Cheap and able to use a case! Im there!

I have been really on the verge on going all out and buying the DICE G2, with pass through. (running me about $120)

But for the price, and the ability to continue to use a case, I am going with the SoundGate G2.
Found a good video review that made me comfortable with the small disc.

I ordered it off amazon along with a 4 ft iDevice cable extender. They should be here in 2 days.

P.S. The Soundgate is only $9.92 on Amazon right now!

The ProClip mount is great, but not designed for easy removal. My current MINI is leased so I am not using the double sided sticky tape - so it is removable if you want...

I have the Proclip installed and I love it. I did not use the sticky tape and I can remove mine at will. I use a Kensigton system with it that allows me to switch between a Portable XM radio and my iPhone.

2011 cars use the same as the 2007-2010 version.
