Want to add an auxiliary input

So Its time to add my aux input thing for my ipod. Im a cheap *** when it comes to spending money and I found this

http://www.mossmini.com/Shop/ViewPro...eIndexID=89613

but I also seen this one somewhere else b 4 for $20. Does anyone know where I can get it cheaper? And has anyone ever used this method? Is it plug and play or not?

That's the correct part for the Mini. I looked up the procedure and it looked like a lot of work so I took it to my dealer to install. They charged me somewhere around $200 for the part and labor a few years ago. Completely worth it but expensive

You need a 12 pin connector and the right size, it is a common plug in europe so you can source it there, however with shipping etc, you are probably not going to save much.

This should fit and it is $15, last one left and I dont know how much shipping is.

Someone made a DIY aux-in years ago and posted a 'how-to' in this forum. A patient search ought to find it.

Ouch - I've installed this in about 20 minutes and most of that time is the owner deciding where they want the plug mounted.

Once you've done one you know where to reach behind the radio, then it simply plugs in and all you need to do is fix the other end someplace.

I found it took less than 90 seconds to get mine plugged in and working and for the last couple months, i just used it hanging out from under the dash. But this weekend I finally had the time to mount it properly. It took about 2 hours. I've never taken this interior apart before so a third of that time was spent reading. And half was spent figuring out how to apply what I had just read.

I ended up mounting mine next to the mirror switch (where some of you have seat heater switches). I originally thought I'd put it with the toggles for the windows and locks, but this location was way easier.

Not pictured is the little plug I made to cover it when not in use. If any of you have ever owned old Saabs, you know the horrors of getting debris in little vital openings in your center console. (That's where the Saab ignition is and debris can keep the key from being fully inserted --but I digress)

+1 for the outmotoring kit. It's only $40 and it's a quick and easy install. My time is worth more than the difference between the OutMotoring and an involved DIY. Also, they're a good vendor to deal with and I'm glad to give them the business. Aaron is helpful and prompt with responses and shipping.

Here is one for $36.95 with free shipping. They are good people to deal with and are close to my house. http://www.minicarparts.net/Parts/M3367.cfm?ref=nxtfb .

Mynewt- That's a cool location. Seat heater buttons keep from doing it. I'm mounting it in my Parcel shelf.
