Best suggestion for rarely used iphone 4 holder/dock?

So I've got Navigon on my iphone 4, and say I'll use it like twice a month... what kind of "docking" mechanism do people recommend I purchase, that obviously doesn't cost much but does a good job of letting me hold it up at a good level, and yet be able to store this holder easily somewhere? (so no bulky ugly stick-to-windshield sol's please!).

The classic, designed for mini holder that goes at the back of the rev-meter is out because, afaik, that thing would have a big ugly stick sticking out the entire time when I dont have the iphone placed there, right?

oooooooooooh yes... see I was thinking of building some custom-mounts in odd places like they sort of do (think the spot between the large speedo and the top-left corner of it, how as it meets the dash there's a triangular depression you can stick a finger in....

Hi. Click through the original link. You'll see a gallery shots of different mounting locations.

I use the affixable mounts, myself. I have one on the underside (on the right) of my rear view mirror.

I would get this:

TomTom car kit for iPhone
http://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/products...it-for-iPhone/

It will work with any GPS app. I provides a speaker for spoken turn by turn directions, enhances the GPS signal and acts a Bluetooth speaker for your iPhone if you don't have Bluetooth in your MINI.

Here is a pic of it in my car. I removed the windshield/suction cup mount and attached it to the Craven Speed iPhone mount. It's also hardwired.

See, the kuda is the closest to my request -- specifically that nothing much be protruding or installed when the device is not in use. The craven mount, great stuff but that stick hanging out when the device is not in use, yuck.

Now I'm looking at the Kuda's, and they are pretty stealth except that, well, they also "stick out" just not as obviously as many others.

I'm still eager to try and find something that I can wedge into between the vent and the speedo circle and then pop it out when unused...
or if there just was a clamp/suction that could stick in or near the area..

or, actually, yes, something that would clamp onto the vent (which I'd close when device docked)....

I was not suggesting you get the Craven Speed mount. I was merely posting a pic to show what the thing looks like in my car. If you go with a TomTom iPhone car kit just use the built in suction cup to the windshield mount.
