Ok to replace just one tire?
So it looks like I have a nail in one of the runflats on my 2008 MCS with 19k miles.
I read reports of places not wanting to plug runflats (the nail is pretty much dead center in the tire, not near the wall). If the shop cannot plug the tire, would it be bad to just replace the one tire (with another tire of the same type)? Of would that throw off the traction control since it will have significantly more tread than the other tires?
Is is ok to replace two at a time (same axle) and not freak out the traction control? Due to $ restrictions, this is probably the route I will take and put the new tires on the front.

They will probably take the tire off and patch it from the inside, that is the best tubeless tire repair. There is no good reason that they wouldn't repair it. Call around first, to make sure you get a tire place that will fix it for you.

RF's are NOT suppposed to be repaired if driven on flat. Perfect time to get a full set of smooth riding non-runflats like the tires listed in my sig. We gained 3 MPG to boot.
2 weeks after getting them we got an aluminum nail in the shoulder and had to replace even a non-runflat. Good to have road hazard (Discount Tire).

I think it depends on how many miles you've run on that runflat minus its air. If not far a repair is certainly doable.

Thanks all. I do not know about the previous owner, but it has not been too low on air while in my care. Hopefully it is patchable. I will check with Discount Tire up the road, and if they can't patch it I'll go for two new then since the tread is quite low.

I had a flat that couldn't be repaired - sidewall damage. I only replaced that tire and it wore very unevenly and also caused more wear on the opposing tire according to the dealer. I just got them both replaced at the dealer. As long as you replace the opposing tire, it should be fine is what I was told. So replace both front or both back, never one, but you don't have to replace all four.
Discount Tire took out the nail and patched the tire for free, so hopefully I can get through the end of the year on this set before replacing them.
I like the idea of the Dynaplug, I am going to have to get a kit for the trunk. Thanks!
