Tire Size on 12 Inch Rims

I'm thinking of going with 165/70/12's. I know the standard size tire for 12 inch wheels is either 145/70 or 165/60 but it is darn hard (and expensive) to find those sizes so I'm thinking of going slightly larger with the 165/70's. Anyone running these and if so any problems? The difference in diameter is less than one cm and the speedometer difference is negligable.

We try to keep a couple different brands of 165 by 12" tires in stock in 60 and 55 series. We have not found a 165/70 series 12" tire that works on the Mini.

Thanks Don,

Can you explain why 165/70/12's don't work? Is it an issue of rubbing?

I use 165/70 on my 10s and don't have any issues. I wouldn't think 12s would have any problems???

I don't think the info on diameter in the OP can be correct.

165/70-12 Y372 = 21.4"

145/70-12, 165/60-12, and 165/70-10 are all 20" or less.
