HKS SSQV Blow Off Valve

Hi I fit a HKS SSQV to my r56 cooper s , Will it make me loose power or have any negative effects? would it need specific custom tuning? Thanks

Our MINI's OEM blow off vents the air back into the system, venting it into the atmosphere sounds 'wrong' esp when there is nothing to cater for that change.

Every turbo car sold in the US has to be a closed system. The HKS valves react very fast and shouldn't have any ill effects. Had one on my gti (much more maf based than I suspect the mini is) and never had a problem.

This has been gone over ad nausea, adding a BOV while at stock conditions does not cause any serious issues, at higher boost the engine does not enjoy it, it will cause problems.

There seriously is no reason to do it, unless you are changing out the turbo, and retuning.

Yep, the stock dv is fine. If you want the noise, get an intake. Same thing, no downsides.

if you think that getting an intake will give you the same noise as an HKS SSQV, i'm guessing you've never heard a car with one. It is sex to my ears.

If you think sex to your ears sounds like a bird being castrated everytime you shift. I had one for quite some time... it wears on you.

I've installed BOVs on my Z and on my friend's cars. It sounds "cool" but the car doesn't drive as smooth anymore. My Z has been on the stock recirculation valves for a few years now and my friend went back to his recircs, too.

The old Apex'i SAFC-II air-flow converter has a deceleration setting to adjust the MAF to compensate for a BOV. This option is limited though since it adjusts the MAF setting at a particular RPM point and is not based on boost pressure change.
