New injectors for a somewhat modded 07 S?

So I have had the Forge CAI on my MINI for awhile now, and I just put new boost tubes, turbo inlet tube and the Alta turboback exhaust on my MINI. The garage here recommended that I think about larger injectors like the JCW since they have experienced cars with those mods running a bit lean. What does everyone think about that, and if it may be needed are the JCW the way to go or an aftermarket? thanks everyone!

If you can find larger injectors, please let us know! The R56 uses direct injectors, which is something your garage probably didn't know about. To date there is no record of the stock injectors having flow rate issues. The R56 uses a wideband O2 feedback ECU and has shown to well control AFR with stock fuel system well beyond the power level you're at now.

I think what your shop was referring to were R53 JCW injectors, which are of course not applicable for you. Based on that false diagnosis you should question their ability to give you competent advice. I certainly hope your garage isn't a vendor here on NAM, that would be embarassing.

In the end, there's nothing you need for your MINI as it sits now to enjoy the engine setup you have [apart from some ALTA PSRS, but that's just my personal crusade against the awful stock front control arm bushings].

Cheers,
Ryan

Thats why I asked, I'm in an area with no local dealer and very few MINIs, most of which happen to be R53s. Most of their experience is with the R53 and I thought the advice may have been more geared to that model. They do some really good work on other European cars and are trying to break in to MINI work, and they are not a vendor on NAM. This question also shows why NAM is so important and critical to getting correct answers from those who know!

Glad to help. Help your shop learn about your car; it's a whole different ballgame from the R53!

Direct injection car run leaner than other engines, anyway I think the R56 Jcw has the same injectors.

Are Direct Injection injectors harder or more expensive to install than your basic Fuel Injection injectors? Or is the only thing different is the placement of those injectors?

Thats not entirely good information-

Until we have concrete information on when our fuel injectors start having issues, we shouldn't go jumping to conclusions. Until we get tuning under control and get big turbos, theres no way to know. Obviously if we have reflashed cars hitting 210whp with stock injectors they're fine. Don't just think we need to upgrade for the sake of upgrading. Most of the "normal" FSI vws and audis have issues at above 300whp. We're nowhere near that yet. From what I understand, the S3 injectors are the way to go now. And yes, they're a bit more of a ***** to install.
