Week 41 - Anyone else?

Hi All,

It's been a fabulous 3 years with my '06 MCS, but he's soon to be superseded by my new 2009 MCS! Just found out that the new guy has a production date of Week 41, which is the week of October 5-11, 2008. Can't wait to see in-person how my interior trim choices will look.

BTW, my MA informed me that while I couldn't order the Sport Package, I could get everything separately except for the DTC (Dynamic Traction Control). I was going to order the LSD (Limited Slip Differential) anyway, and he said that DTC was basically a software-only version of LSD and that LSD was much better.

If the above is true and DTC is just software, what are the chances for an in-field software upgrade to get DTC added after delivery? I'm pretty sure I'll be OK with just the LSD, but I want it all .

Anyway, to all those who already received your '09 MCS' - whaddya think? And to my fellow week 41'rs - how are you coping with the wait?

It will be a bittersweet day when I make the last drive with my '06 to pick up my '09, but I'm up for the challenge.

Week 41 here also. Join the week 41 support group here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=152487.

I would have ordered the sport package had it been available now. I already waited for the '09's and didn't want to wait any longer.

I put my order in 8.13.08. Got a prod # about a week ago.

Its a tough wait. But my advisor said "now comes the hard part". He's right- this sucks even more. LOL.

How long does it normally take the MINI USA site update your production info to the correct build info for your car? I got my production number 4 days ago and the build info in the owner's lounge is still not correct.

The e-mail my MINI MA sent me with my production number said to not worry as it takes up to 72 hours. I got that not on Monday and here it is on Thursday and the info is still wrong. So I called the MA and he said that for some odd reason, the '09's are not showing up right in the web but they are correct. He then forwarded me the full build list for mine and assured me that it would be OK but might take up to a week or more for the web version to reflect the right info.

My MA told me 24-48hrs. It happened within 24hrs for me.

All my detail was there and then it was blank a few days later. My detail is back and correct as of today when I switched over to "scheduled for production".

oh....but it still says I am getting a 4-door sedan Cooper S

Picking it up next Friday!

Just to try to calibrate things, mine was build week 36, and I scheduled a time with my MA today for pickup next Friday here in Dallas TX. Assuming the same shipping time and port destination, a build week 41 means waiting about 6 more weeks (+/-). Mine was shipped into Port Charleston SC (NC?).

Ordered on 9/28, and got production number at the same time. Just got VIN today. Hoping to get it by Thanksgiving...west coast takes a little longer.

DTC offers (crammed in a really tight nutshell) electronic, computer controlled functionality similar to that of the mechanical LSD. I don't know how MINI all the differences between a DTC and non-DTC MINI, but I think it's safe to say that the DTC functionality is not just a simple software upgrade.

Between LSD and DTC, I don't know which will be better. But I have decided to hold out for DTC for two reasons:
a) Being an electronic control, DTC has an "off" button. I would like the ability to say "no, I don't want that affecting my ride today", but to turn the LSD off, I'd have to replace differential. With DTC, I push a button.
b) The LSD is much more mechanically complex than the standard differential. And that amounts to more things that could go wrong, and a higher repair bill when they do.
