Water Restrictions... <sigh>

Well;

I heard the thunder and grabbed the Mothers soap and a bucket. The downpour worked out just fine.

What do you do to keep your MINI detailed during the drought? I hate those spray wash booths.

Get some good bio-degradable soap and pull it onto the front lawn to do the deed. No run-off into the gutter means it all went to the lawn.

Some people like plastic flamingos or garden gnomes as lawn decor...I like cars.

You need one of these. 3.5 gallon and use distilled water.

Unless I can call my Clubman a "shrub", I cannot water it. Our restrictions do not allow lawn watering at all; only shrub watering by hand.

I have used the Kozak cloth for years, especially on my black cars.

It does NOT scratch the paint and is great to keep the car clean in between washes.

I can cut out about 50% of my washes when using this cloth.

Bonus Tip: Be mindful of what Kozak instructs, these are NOT for cleaning off built up dirt and grime. But you can clean off dust and dirt that builds up over a couple weeks.

http://www.kozak.com/

Here they are on eBay, if you have an eBay account. Go for about the same price as on the Kozak site [if you buy three on Kozak, as the price gets down to $7 each], but easier to buy if you have an eBay account.

It would all work as long as it's British Racing Green.

Meguiar's quik detailer spray and a microfiber cloth works well for those in-between touch ups. And a California dusting brush.

By the way, Kozak cloths have been around since the 1920s. I think that says a lot about a product.

Little article:

People often think of innovations as modern ideas. But Kozak Auto DryWash Cloths are one innovation that has been around sine 1926. During that year, the R.M. Walker Ford Dealership in Batavia, New York was thriving with sales of the Ford Model T. They were doing such a steady business, cars had to be washed every night for demonstrations the next day.

Paying for two men to wash cars with soap and water all night was cutting into the dealership’s profits, so they started looking for alternatives. KozaK DryWash Cloths were invented out of simple necessity – to cut out the expense of the car wash. And they worked too. The DryWash Cloths saved 80% of the wet-washing expense; both in time and materials, and it was discovered that the cloths were extremely durable. Each cloth could easily withstand up to 100 cleanings. It didn’t take long for the rest of the nation to catch on and KozaK Drywash Cloths became a staple in the auto care industry.

Surfblue says: Try Griot's Garage: Spray On Car Wash when it's really dirty, and Speed Shine for between cleanings. BTW, I was again cleaning my wheels yesteday with their wheel cleaner, and that stuff never ceases to amaze me. You see my 07 MCS on the street, you'd never be able to guess how few times that car has been "washed" conventionally.
And don't forget a California Car Duster. I have a big one in the garage and a small on in the boot.
You ought to try Griot's Window Cleaner, too. The stuff is so good, I use it on all the home windows too.
This string really ought to be in the detailing section.
