Warning Triangle with Container...do you have one?

So I noticed that there's an empty spot in my Clubman where something belongs. The spot is just on the inside and below the boot doors. Upon further research, I found that this is where a warning triangle with its container goes. I didn't get one with mine. Is this a dealer oversight, or is this another one of those "European only" options? Anyone?

Isn't it amazing? I never knew this option, albeit a European one, existed but I am not surprised. Just disappointed that we here in the States seem to get short shrift on some handy things.

aha... and the first aid kit?

I was just about to email my MA about this since I read about it in the manual...

Is the First Aid kit the same way?

Yep, first aid kit is the same. You might be able to find them at newministuff.com but I don't know if they would be the same as the Euro OEM option.

Dealers will however order the brackets to hold the warning triangle.

Just stupid I say

I have both the warning triangle.. and the first aid kit. I took delivery of my car in Germany. The funny thing.. I opened the first aid bag the first time a few weeks ago for a bandaid.. uh er.. no bandaids lol but plenty of tourniquets.. Someone here in the states must sell the warning triangles.. would it help if I measured the case the triangle is in? so you can try to get one? My case is blue.. which just happens to match the car

I never asked at the BMW dealer, maybe you can get one there.

BTW, I got mine off ebay for $12 and have the new brackets on order for my '08 R56

newministuff.com has both, but the shipping cost will be pretty high. I looked at ordering the first aid kit last year and shipping was as much as the cost of the kit.

I got a warning triangle a quite while back from Coopersport.com when they ordered a bunch(similar to a group buy), but don't know of they still have them. I got a first aid kit from MINI Mania the end of last year.

Pretty sure they would be the same since newministuff.com is in the UK.

If you don't care where the triangles are stored you can buy one (or two or three) at any auto parts store, and just store them in the underfloor area.
I have a Michelin "road emergency kit" I got for free when I purchased my tires a few years ago. It's a nice heavy plastic case with a warning triangle, four-way flashlight, 12v inflator, jumper cables, a few tools, and a first aid kit. It fits very well in the under-floor storage area.

The dumbing down of the American buying public?

I guess MINI/BMW's thoughts are "All the Americans have cell phones and don't need a spare tire, or a first aid kit, or a safety triangle, etc..."

Or is it that each of these items adds shipping weight and cost per unit and the market where these are sold does not require these items and most of the buyers will never notice them missing, so let's save some money.

I found the Warning Triangles on Ebay a couple of years ago from someone in the UK selling theirs. As far as the First Aid Kit - we bought a small one a Target...

The triangle and first aid kit are requirements in some countries (Germany, I know). They only install 'em when the car is going to a country where it is mandated.

You can order them from your parts counter and a handful of online MINI retailers (atleast for the 1st Gen MINI you could...)

It's that these items are required by law for cars sold in Europe, and not required in the US. Sort of like the parking lights on the wheel arches that are required in the US, but not in Europe.

It would be nice if we were able to purchase them as an option, though. They have Premium, Sport, Cold Weather, and Convenience Packages, why not a Safety Package option.

Its really not such a big deal to go and buy a set.. they would be much cheaper then through mini.. as I said.. the first aid kit does say mini on it.. but its just a first aid kit.. tucked in the drivers side back wheel well.. the triangles attach to the shelf in the back. In Germany the cars have to have them .. our american car we brought over there, we had to buy a first aid kit and a triangle..

Ordered my triangle and brackets from a MINI dealer here in Canada. The cost breaks down like this.

Warning Triangle with Container 71606782323 $18.55
Bracket for Hazard Warning Triangle Left 71102755793 $12.00
Bracket for Hazard Warning Triangle Right 71102755794 $12.00

Subtotal - $42.55
Taxes (Provincial 7% and Federal 5%) 12% $5.11
Total - $47.66

Everything mounts to the underside of your liftgate on an R56.

As neato as the set would be to have, I would never use it. I might buy the set if I see it at some MINI event but I wouldn't go out of my way to order it.

What dealer is this? I would love to order one from somewhere closer than the UK.

Depending on where you live, pick a dealer in Canada that's closest to you. A list of dealers can be found at

Sears has this cool Emergency/First Aid Kit for $19.99 http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_02807185000P

Sometimes they have them on sale for $14.99. I bought two, one for my Mini and one for my Jeep. They're small and compact yet full of neat emergency stuff.

Quote myself ??? I had to use my emergency kit today, sweet old lady with a dead battery. Jumped her and she loved my emergency kit, she was going straight to Sears to get hers (this sentence sounds strange ).

I bought a hang off the win dow emergency triangle. It goes in the boot duffle with the Slime compressor kit, a wrench, and other emergency items.
