First: I have the best Wife in the world for buying me these. "Spaceeba maya Golyubka!"

Ok, they've been on the car a week and I absolutely love them. They're softer over the little bumps but appear firmer over the big ones. Probably because they're an inch shorter. It doesn't feel as though you're going to get the fillings shaken out of your teeth though.

I have them in conjunction with the Kosei K-1's and 215 45 17" Yoko AVS ES100's and the Rossier Dyno Research (RDR) adjustable control arms.

I took it to one of the better alignment shops here in Madtown (used them for years and I know and trust them) to have to have it checked. I was also interested in getting it set for a "street" and "track" setup. To keep this short and sweet I run the front as they are and -1.25 camber and 1/32" toe out on the rear. For the track I'll go to a -2.0 with a 1/16" toe out.

This is an easy setup because it is exactly one turn of the adjuster on the control arm.

This is a garage dooable project but make sure you can compress the spring WHILE IT IS STILL IN THE CAR. I didn't catch that part and it's not in the dee-rections.

The rear is a snap. 3 bolts off, carefully and attentively take off the top of the shock, swap the spring, put the cap back on, line it up, 3 bolts in, we'll see you at the bar.

I'll get some pics soon but my digital camera is still in Fubaria.

If you can find someone willing to give you a ride you'll buy them. (Thanks again Ryephile!) I'm not kidding when I say that it's actually a bit softer than factory. Now downtown Chicago is probably another matter.

Rossier charges $50 per hour. He's just south of Stevens Point, WI.

You would have to call him to find out what he would bill (in hours) for this job.

He's a good friend of mine. Tell him Jim sent you!

Just to confirm what already has been said...I also had the HSport springs installed a week ago. I also Love them. While the differance is not as great as when I got rid of the runflats...there is a differance. The car is truly more of a pleasure to drive and it seems to take the corners even better. Definitely the smaller bumps are handled much nicer, while I think the larger bumps are a little harder. Definitely worth it. I had mine installed at Helix in Philadelphia. Great shop, great guy (Eric) and one hour charge for Labor!

I'm suprised that you are going with toe-out instead of toe-in on the rear. Could you please elaborate on this choice? I was under the impression that toe-in for the rear is better due to added stability.

Thanks

nfo, I did all of my mods to date which is mostly suspension related. I can say that it is actually quite simple. After doing it on my car I can probably say that if I had to do it again it would be approx. 3 hrs max to do all four. I you have any questions let me know. If you want to call me PM me for number, I'm also in the Chgo area.

Hi Sleepless,

Yep, where I went to school that is what I heard too. I'm merely following in someone else's tire marks.

However, the extensive testing at Grassroots Motorsports supports the 1/16" toe out with -1.0 to -1.5 camber setting. You can read about their test car here:

http://www.grassrootsmotorsports.com/minicoopers.html

The Rossier document says it too:

nfo, anytime. Just PM me for number. Basically I bought the MINI for mods, therefore I don't mind sharing anything I have learned. I have ways to go with other stuff tho.

NFO & Peter:

If you guys are doing a spring and arm clinic at some point, I want IN--but just to watch for now! And no, it's not the wife; it's my wallet!

Guys, if you do throw together a clinic I'm only about 2 hours away up in Madison. I'd be happy to lend a hand, opinion or wrench.

Control arms aren't too bad.

I also have H-sport springs and love them!
It was not a drastic change but they've made a definite difference in the corners.
The big bumps are harsh though!
I live in L.A. and there are quite a few pot holes
and crummy roads to steer clear of.
All in all I love the springs and they're well worth the price...
cheers, ryan

I have the H&R's on my car, and installed them myself. Install is the same as the H-Sports. I'm about 2.5 hours south of Chicago in the Peoria area if you guys need yet another pair of hands or moral support at that spring install party.

Mjilnor - what color are your Kosei wheels? I've had mine painted since came up to pick up that exhaust from you in Rockford. Pics Here
