Home again sport suspension on rough roads
Well, I couldn't take it any longer. My mini was lemoned in May. I had a 2007one of the first in NY and the CEL kept doing its thing and engine would sputter. The dealer took the car back.I had to get a car real quick and picked a Suzuki what a disaster! Long story short. I am ordering my 2008 mini tonight. What is new for 2008 and was wondering about the sport suspension for NY roads. Can someone help with some advice.
sixteens advised for starters
I suggest you stick with 16" wheels if you are going sport suspension AND you have rough roads to deal with. BTW, the lady of the house thinks it rides just fine, even on the backroads, when she's riding with me. You can always go with 17" wheels later if you want, but the 16" wheels will be fine with sport suspension.

Depends on how bad the roads are. It's quite a change at first after driving mostly regular suspensions for my whole life. But after three months, I've really gotten use to the ride of my sports with 17s. So much so that driving standard suspension cars feels more slushy than the snow on the road this time of year. But, every now and then you encounter a road or two that hasn't been paved in about 20+ years or so and it can jolt the **** out of your teeth....and your bladder too for that matter.
We are in the process of building an 08 to replace one of our SUV's and give our 06 MINI a mate in the garage....Sport suspension has been tossed around a bit and I like it on my 06 but for my wife as a commuter I don't think its necessary...but that always leaves it open for suspension mods later on!
