Hi all -
This past weekend I just traded in my 2002 BMW M3 to place an order on an MCS.

I ordered dark silver with the blue/black two-tone interior.
The dealer told me this was the only two-tone interior option available.
However, through my research on this board, I've seen a black/gray interior in two-tone which I think is some kind of gray cloth?
Does anyone have good pictures of this interior they could post?
I wonder whether this interior might look better with my dark silver exterior.

Also, I am considering getting the Aero kit as well, but I have not seen many pictures of it. Does anyone have "before and after" or side by side pics for comparison of what this package looks like?? What should I expect to pay to have this package installed?

I ordered the driving lights, but I decided that $1000 for the lights sounds like alot, and Im not even sure I want them, so I may cancel these and put that money towards the body kit.

Thanks all in advance for your help.

Click the link below for a good pic of the Space Cloth:

http://www.mini2.com/forum/attachmen...;postid=396235

I think the space cloth looks especially good in silver cars. I have the cloth in my chili red MCS, and I really love it. It doesn't hold heat, which is very important for me. The cloth is excellent quality...same stuff used in BMW's. Also, note, in the back, you mainly will see the silver color. I wish they had put a little more black trim into the back seat, but I think they got the fronts just right.

As for the Aero kit, if you like the look of the black grills, you can order just those and install them yourself for VERY little money.

I don't have a before and after pic of the Aero, but it's fairly expensive to have installed, because the dealer must install the package and paint it, so keep that in mind. I think around the $2200-$2500 range is average, but I'm not 100% sure of those figures.

And why in the world are you trading a 2002 M3 for a MINI? I'll trade with you.

See ya,
JS

Thanks for the space cloth pic, looks really nice. I may have to go for it.

I actually got rid of the M3 to try and be practical for once in my life
I bought it a year ago and barely put 7,000 miles on it - it sits in a family garage out on Long Island while I slave away all week here in Manhattan

(I'll probably have to start spending too much time here to kill the wait!)

By the way, how far into the process can I still change my order?

I was thinking Dark Silver, but after seeing the Italian Job last night, I may change my mind. All three of those bad boys looked awesome!!!

Hey Rob,

Have you looked at the MINIUSA.com site? If you look under options, there are some good Aero Kit pics.

The Aero Kit is $1200, painting and installation NOT INCLUDED.

If you use the "Build your own" function, you can see all of the interior colors under the interior options section.

I'm getting the two-tone cloth myself. It's sweet, and I won't have to pay $1000 for leather!

Thanks for the pic of space gray cloth - looks great.

The only trouble now is that I am definitely ordering the Premium Package (which I believe includes the cost of leather?).

That being the case, is it a complete waste for me to pay for the leather in the premium package and yet still get the cloth? Is the space gray interior leather with cloth inserts, or is it all cloth? I like the look of the space gray but want to get what I pay for!

It's been a while, but I don't believe that premium includes the cost of leather. Look carefully, and you'll find that it's possible to specify these cars many, many, different ways. The leather option is one that can be added w or w/o other packages.

re. your M3 issue, it sounds like you'll have the same problem with the MINI, and that is if you have/want a fun car, you need to DRIVE. A parked MINI that you only see on weekends is probably not that much more fun than a parked M3 that you only see on weekends. Only cheaper.

When you get your car, hook up with some of the Long Island MCO folks!

Exactly true! It will just hurt a bit less of a bite in the wallett
But I will still try to drive more often, and may even opt to pay to garage the Mini in the city since I will be saving so much money and won't have to worry about damage or theft quite as much.

Will do!

Rob,

If its a week-end toy you're after, why not get a Morgan? Much better snob appeal at in the Hamptons anyway; I'll bet even Alex Baldwin doesn't have one.

We're a bunch of hard-core driving fools, high on the MC/MCS. Garage queens are not our cup of tea. If however, you plan to use it in Manhattan, well then, welcome to the tribe.

MCSRob-
Aloha and welcome to MCO.
The MCS is very fun and you'll like it. Powerful enough and handles great.
Less filling-tastes great!
Here is a stock MCS-

Good Lord... got rid of an 2002 M3 for an MCS? Did you get laid off or something? The $ for an M3 could buy 2 MCSs.
I like my lapis blue leather. It and the matching blue carpet add a little something to an otherwise grayscale car (DS/W).

MCSRob,
I just have to jump in here real quick about the driving lights. I don't know what they are charging for parts and install in the US, but Im having it done in Germany for 350 Euro (About 450 USD). If we're getting a 55% markdown here for parts and install, there is something wrong. Does anyone else have prices from around the states on this item?

The stock driving light is really expansivce and I cannot affrod it. So I got my PIAA driving lights for $299 only. It works perfectly.
