OEM alarm installed after

I bought the factory alarm after I purchased the car, and when I went to get the alram installed, the service guy didnt tell me if i wanted both keys to be programmed then I would have to bring that also. So now i gotta driveback to the dealer and drop off my spare key. They should of told me that when I brought the car in.

180 shipped, if you decide to have one installed, make sure you bring all the keys you have, and spare keys cost 350.00!!!!

Excellent! Another excuse to drive the Mini around.

I just got my alarm installed, and I only brought one key. I just tried the other key and it seems to work. What needs to be programmed in the key?

Anyway, I love the "heartbeat". I wish the arming sound was about 30% softer, though.

Nope. Paid $220 for full install and update at MorristownMini. This was half of what the first dealer I went to charged. Prices vary a lot among dealers. As for a DIY install, Opass mentioned $50 to $140 for the software update in another thread.

You are quite right, there is nothing in the key that needs to be programmed individually. when its swapped with the original fob it picks up all the pertinent information.

How did you get it for that price. Up in Canada it's either way over-priced or asking for the wrong thing. I called Mini Oakville and they told me $681 for the kit and $400 roughly for install. I called Mini Markham and they queated me the same for parts - $681 - and $700 for install. Some how they said it would take them 5.5 hrs to install.

Any suggestions?

Not sure if this helps any since you're in Canada, but Morristown MINI (in New Jersey) has it for $180. Also they quoted me 2 hours/$200 for the install.

I bought my alarm kit from ClassicMINI, which is a vendor here, and they offer 20% off like Morristown MINI. I paid around 185 shipped.
