What is the most reliable way to make R56 195 HP

Putting cost aside what is the most reliable way to make 195 HP at the crank in a R56 Cooper S. Lets assume the factory crank number of 172. I guess to make it simple the question is to gain between 23-25 HP at the crank.

When giving this input do not use manufacturers claims to justify the HP but rather your own realistic guess of what it truly takes to gain the numbers.

I am growing tired of waiting on the JCW Tuning Kit for the Auto Transmission and the kit is only rated at 17 crank HP gain or 189. I have modified every vehicle I have ever owned beyond warranty and it looks like Mini is leaving me no choice if I want more HP.

With bolt on mods you should hit the mark. Turbo-back exhaust, FMIC, Intake, Boost Tubes will get you there without sacrificing reliability.

With an Cold air intake and turbo back exhaust you should add about 20 hp (estimate), or if you wanna spend less just buy the unichip ECU its going to be less than the 2 above and more HP its going to add about 40hp.

First off, the MCS HP and torque ratings are at the wheels not the crank. Spend some time in the drivetrain mod section of the forum, Alta has all kinds of mods you can do to add HP. The JCW engine kit is not worth the money in my opinion. I would go for the ALTA piggy back ecu, that's what I'm saving up for, that should give the HP boost your looking for!https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=127397

Wow, really? The 172hp/177ft-lbs numbers are @ the wheels?

Not really. It's just that dyno results have been showing that the published crank hp is under-rated. Generally, this engine produces around 165 hp at the wheels.

The ALTA catback, downpipe, and intake alone will get you around 190 hp at the wheels, maybe a little more.

The ALTA intake and ECU may get you there, also. The advantage of the ECU is that it produces much more mid-range hp, due to the increased boost. The intake will compliment this by improving the breathing capability.

The alta IC claims 20hp. I don't know if I believe that entirely, but if you add a turbo-back and an intake that should get you there.

Need explanation

I am seriously considering the Alta PnP and catback for my R56 Auto. Here are my questions/concerns.

How does the JCW Tuning Kit Make 17hp at the crank with intake, exhaust, and ECU and the alta intake, exhaust, PNP make 46 HP at the wheels with their dyno numbers.

It seems alta does no long term testing to see if the turbo is getting to hot or the motor is stressed. I am comfortable with a motor and turbo only lasting 70k miles rather than 100k or 150k that it may last without issue if stock but 20 pounds of boost seems to be to much. How much R&D and reliability testing was done in developing these parts that triple the JCW tuning kit in power. Please explain how this is possible. I track my car and would love the extra power but will this upgrade be reliable after 40 minutes straight on a track. I could run my 2005 Steeda Mustang all day at the track without issue. Could the same be expected of a 215 HP mini at 20 pounds of boost
