Classic Cabrio in Amsterdam
Hey folks,
Here are a couple snapshots of mini convertible that I wandered upon in Amsterdam. First time I've seen one of these. I've read that there were only a limited number of Rover factory convertibles (this is not one of those) and they were underwhelming and not successful. Anyone know why? I think a classic 'vert would be really cool.

Wow... that has to be the single most ugly body kit I've ever seen on a Mini. Makes it look like the bastard child of a Mini and a PT Cruiser. It looks like it was indeed a factory cabrio, modified with the Gawd-awful bodywork to me, but I could be wrong.
PT Cruiser? You're cruel.
I took a closer took of the hi-res. version of the photo and discovered what looks like the remains of where the B pillar had been-- must be an aftermarket chop-top. The front & rear panels look a bit like Zeemax, but I'm not familiar with those giant fenders and the fake vents. Fake vents? On a mini? That's like saying fake hood scoops on a MINI? Couldn't be.
I've seen conversions where people cut away the rear half of the roof and fitted a cloth cover, sort of like an old Geo... it looked... interesting. Not as nice as a true cabrio, but certainly different.
And I'll remind you that SOME of us have MINIs with functional scoops...

I'm sure it's a fun car though.

I have a classic Cabrio. It is a "Keith's" convertion that leaves the "b" pillars in place and intigrates a rollbar to add body stiffness. Honestly, with the top down you really don't even notice them.
Might be for sale if anyone is interested

+1! The fenders are just WRONG!
