Patiently waiting since July 20th :)
I have a question I placed my order on July 20th, I've been told that the factory is closed for the whole month of August; when do you think I'll get my mini? Oh and last word I got was that it was in paint, however this was from the dealer not the owners page.
thanks,
rudy
thanks,

(866) ASK-MINI is most likely to have the most current information- it depends on a lot of factors, from what I've seen once production is complete it's about one month for loading on the boat, shipping and unloading. Then, there's possible delays at the distribution center- minor shipping damage and some installation can be done there. Your best bet's to call and ask.
I see that you're breaking the black pattern?

thanks
I called and they said to call the dealer in about 3-5 days.
The car just got out of paint yesterday WOOT! but that's the most info that I got from both the dealer and ask mini.
As for breaking the pattern nah I still love black cars but mama loves red and when I got her the TSX she was in love but she said her next car she really wanted red, and thus what mama wants mama gets

There's also: http://ol.miniusa.com, but they're usually behind a bit compared to Ask Mini, so probably not much better. Plus, you need to know your production or VIN number.
To be honest, I don't know! We haven't received ours yet, it's still on order... :(
The dealership here only has four show vehicles, and none of them had Nav. I was told they have a hard time keeping cars with it in stock, and the wait is a killer. There's some videos of it over on YouTube though: http://www.youtube.com/results?searc...&search=Search

Hmm- not quite sure what you mean by 'the deal with production'?
If you're referring to my extra-long wait, it has more to do with the particular dealer than anything. I'm not sure than anyone who knows for sure can say, but each dealer has a certain allocation of production slots. I'd guess that it's based partially on the number of sales, and I wouldn't be surprised if the dealership had to commit to a certain number of sales for Mini to be able to to schedule production of the cars and plan the assembly line's production requirements.
It just so happens that the dealership closest to me has a lot on order, so I had to wait a bit. It works out for me, because I was saving for the car anyway. I just needed to put my order in a bit earlier than I would have been able to somewhere else.
It's a bit off-topic since I'm not a Cabrio (
), but as for my order, it's a lot like Gabe's new car from MotoringFile- and here I was thinking I was going to be unique...

If you're at the distribution center on the UK side, then you're in time to watch your Mini cross the ocean, but you've got a bit longer to wait.
If you're at the Vehicle Distribution Center on the US side, then you you don't have as much of a wait to go. Unfortunately, the VDC is sort of like the black hole :( It's the one step that doesn't have any specific tracking mechanism through it. You only really know it's done once the Owner's Lounge say it's on it's way to the dealer.
Since your Cooper is spoken for, it's called a Priority One at the VDC, which means it should get processed before other cars that don't have anyone waiting for it. I've heard that the quickest turn around is usually three days, but it can be as long as a week or more.
There's a great thread that has photos of a VDC tour. It's of the Californian VDC, but the idea is the same.
There's a great overview of the whole production tracking process at Josh Wardell's blog.
The shipping time from Southampton (the UK port Mini ships from) to New York is usually seven days, and the wait after production to be loaded is normally at least three days.
Your Mini's production week is set by whichever day your production is complete. There's a week date calendar here, but I've heard that the Mini plant considers a week Sunday-Saturday, rather than Monday-Sunday.
Considering that you were in the paint booth on the 7th, and if you count time back from now, you were probaby in production week 37 (Spet 9th - 15th) or 36, the week before. The your MA or the Ask Mini hotline should be able to confirm which week you were in.
The Week 37 Support group is here, and the week 36 one seems to be here. Looks like many people from both are still waiting for their cars too.

Nick or Becka you both rox! mama can't wait and neither can I
I can't wait to posts pics hehe her last car (tsx) was so new to her she got locked inside with the key, luckly she'll be entering the car with the roof down so we can tell her how to not get locked in hehe
FYI if anyone is in the Philadelphia / Cherry Hill area and spot a Chili red Cabio driven by some old asian lady that's my mom hehe

Heh, there's an older guy who visits my work, and he managed to start his new keyless car with the required key fob in his pocket and then realized that he forgot something in his house. Unlocked the front door, left his keys in the house, and managed to drive out to our office with no keys.
By the way, Minis require two pulls of the door latch by default: one to unlock the door and the second to open it. I understand that you can have the dealer set it up to unlock on the first pull though. Initial setup stuff like that is free when the car is delivered, but there's normally a fee afterward.

Hang in there!
I recently ordered my MCS convertible on August 8th and took delivery on 09-15-07. I got lucky as the day after my dealer put in the order it moved to "scheduled for production". I think timing is everything. The one I do know is the car is worth the wait. It's the funnest car I have ever had and I have had some good ones. Hang in there
WOO HOO sorry I didn’t post sooner. just too excited for my mom. Anyways, Mom picked up her new ride last Thursday from Mini of the Main Line. Mark was very helpful and very patient with my mom which was awsome. I'll try to post pictures when I can find a place to host them.
Some side Notes:
2008 Has a back order on their Navi Dvd
2008 Cabio's are not the new Keyless they are the normal three button key with the unlock top Mini lock then trunk unlock.
2008 Auto's have the Paddle shifter however the HCI isn't the best, and what I mean about that is there are 2 ways to shift in sport mode. One is on the gear selector up or down. And the other is on the steering wheel with two paddles. however this is where my complain comes because to up shift you pull the paddle towards you and to down **** you have to slide your fingers behind that same paddle to down shift. This would be better to assign one paddle to up shift and to down shift.
Also, I've been informed that the unlock feature on the key fob can also lower the top remotely! WOO HOO
Lastly, I think I saw Mark showing my mom that the top can be lowered if the key is inserted into the door and held in the unlock position. SWEET!
What other features can the mini do?

Yeah- I test drove one of the automatics and was expecting the same thing. My MA was riding with and said that many people expect the right paddle to upshift and left to down shift, but that others get it right the way it is. Since my test drive, my wife and I bought a used Durango for people/cargo hauling and it has some hidden stereo controls on the back of the steering wheel. It can get confusing trying to change a stereo station in the middle of the turn, since the toggles get inverted with the wheel being turned, and I'd expect that is part of why they have it the way they do.
You know that pushing / pulling will have the same effect regardless of the wheel position.
There's a hidden items / secret tricks thread around on NAM somewhere. I'll try and track it down.
Well, it turns out that the one I was thinking of was for the r56, which I don't beleive would include the cabrio. Here's a link to it, just in case: R56 Tips and Tricks
They say that it's been a popular topic in the past, so it should be around somewhere... I'll keep looking and post it when I find it.

Yeah- I never did find an r53 tips thread. But really, 98% of all the stuff in the r56 thread were covered in the manual, it's just that people weren't really sure if it applied to them or not...
